Darlene R. Christian, 71, of Irving died Friday, March 11, 2011 at 3:25 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Funeral
service will be held Tuesday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home,
Hillsboro with the Rev. Randy Sands officiating. Burial will be in
Irving Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday at 12 noon at the funeral home
until the time of service.
Born in Witt on Jan. 21, 1940, she
was the daughter of the late Louie and Anita (Striegel) Shelton. She
married George Christian and he preceded her in death in March 1972.
A
homemaker, she was a member of Irving and Hillsboro Free Methodist
Churches. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and playing
bingo.
She is survived by four sons, Richard (wife Vicki)
Christian of Taylor Springs, Ronald Christian of Irving, Donald (wife
Darla) Christian, William "Bill" (wife Heidi) Christian, all of
Hillsboro; three daughters, Brenda (husband Harry) Logan, Teresa
Stephens, and Jane (husband Rod) Bowman, all of Hillsboro; three
sisters, Dottie O'Neill of St. Louis, Cheryl Adams of Nokomis, and
Charlotte White of Irving; two brothers, Leroy Shelton of Taylorville
and Charlie Shelton of Witt; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild expected soon.
She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
