Joseph "Joe" H. Ruzes, age 70, of Farmersville died at 6:38 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Hillsboro.

He was born on July 4, 1941, in Farmersville, the son of the late Adam and Eve Mae (Brockmeyer) Ruzes.

Mr. Ruzes worked as a janitor at several area businesses and did lawn care in the Farmersville area.

Mr. Ruzes is survived by one sister, Clara (husband James) Downey of Farmersville.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Alvina Allgood.

Services will be held at a later date. Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville is assisting the family.




Mary Lee Vickery, 83, of Raymond died at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond. Burial will be in St. Raymond’s Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Mrs. Vickery was born on May 10, 1928, in Raymond Township, the daughter of the late Loretta Todt.

She married Douglas Vickery on April 5, 1945, in Fredericksburg, VA, and he preceded her on Dec. 11, 2011.

She worked as a nursing home surveyor for the State of Illinois for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Raymond Catholic Church.

Mrs. Vickery is survived by a son William (wife Pam) Vickery of Raymond; two daughters, Sharon (husband John) Nobbe of Springfield and Constance Brookens of Springfield; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and one grandson.

Carl E. Richey, 80, of Girard, formerly of Raymond, died at 2:15 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Burial will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Mr. Richey was born in Kincaid on Jan. 20, 1932, the son of the late Floyd E. and Belva (Shoot) Richey. He married Sandra J. Struple in 1959, and she survives.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 until 1953. A member of the Raymond American Legion Post 299, he retired from S.J. Groves & Sons where he had been an office manager.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Richey is survived by a son, Jeff (wife Denise) Richey of Chicago; two granddaughters, Megan Beswarick (fiance Tom Pickett) of Taylorville and Abbey Richey of Atlanta, GA; four great-granddaughters, Avrey, Ella, Addison and Emily; a brother, Bill (wife Doris) Richey of Ashmore; and a sister, Doris Shoot of Ashmore.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Richey, and a sister, Barbara Gilkerson.

Memorials may be given to the Raymond American Legion or Pleasant Hill Village.

Robert “Bob” M. Marcy

Robert “Bob” M Marcy  age 75 of  Springfield passed away Memorial Hospital on Feb. 5, 2012  .

He was born in Springfield, IL on July 18, 1936, the son of the late Victor and Anna Vansacik Marcy.

He married Carol Kleinschmidt on May 14, 1960 and she survives.

He had worked as a Draftsman for many at Allis- Chalmers and Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield.

He served in the US Navy and was assigned to the USS Intrepid.
 
He is survived by a daughter, Diana R. Marcy-Shifflett of Riverton and 3 sons Darrell R. Marcy,  Keith A. (Carrie) Marcy and Michael S. Marcy all of Spaulding, IL 1 brother Victor (Agnes) Marcy of Covina, CA and a sister Mary Jane Krug of Springfield, IL He is also the grandfather of Brandon, Blake, Daniel, and Anna and the uncle of  several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Brittany Marcy.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Feb.  9, 2012  at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield

Alice Hair

Alice (Stuart) Hair, 93, died on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012. Hough Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of the private funeral services.

She was born in Campsie, Scotland, and moved to the United States following her marriage to Robert Hair. They were married for 56 years before he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hair was a wonderful wife and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay; a twin sister, Bee of Scotland; grandsons, Jeremy (wife Teschlyn) and Cody (wife Jenna); and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jeremy Jr., Thane and Jillian.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hair was preceded in death by a son and three siblings.



Charles 'Chuck' Ellis, 75

Charles “Chuck “ Ellis 75 of Hillsboro passed away at 1:55 P.M. on Wed February 1, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Jonesboro IL to Samuel D. and Alice (Newton) Ellis on July 17, 1936.

He graduated from Anna Jonesboro High School in 1954.

He Married Vesta (Lockerby) on December 26, 1959.

He is survived by his wife Vesta and children Lisa husband Donald Mulch of Normal, Ronda husband Kevin Codemo of Normal, Vickie husband Dennis DeWerff of Normal, Scott wife Janelle Ellis of Springfield, David Ellis of Hillsboro and Kimberly husband Treg Caruthers of Waverly. Surviving are grandchildren Ellen Mulch, Erin Mulch, Samantha DeWerff, Jessica DeWerff, Austin Ellis, Christopher Ellis and Alexandria Caruthers. He is survived by 3 brothers James Ellis of Normal, Mike Ellis of Normal, Ronald Ellis of Anna and one sister Kathryn Dillow of Jonesboro.

He managed the Montgomery County Farm Bureau for over 45 years, He was Current President of the Hillsboro Sertoma Club, He was a volunteer for the Hillsboro Area Ambulance and was a board member, He was the Montgomery County Deputy Coroner for over 40 years. He was a member of the ANSAR Shrine Club in Springfield; Bond county Shrine Club and the Shriners clown Unit.

 

Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospital for crippled children.

A Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Monday Feb 6, 2012 with a Memorial service to be at 1:00 P.M. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. James Howie and Rev. Harry Meyer will officiate

Full Military rites will be conducted by VFW post 1306 and the American Legion at Hough & Sons funeral Home following the services.






Gunvor Rhodin Grimes

Gunvor Rhodin Grimes of Hillsboro Passed away at 12:30 A.M. on Monday January 23, 2012 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

She was born in Montreal Canada on Sept 7, 1913 to Jacob and Minnie Rhodin.

She worked in sales and as floor manager for J. L. Hudson in Detroit MI. During WW 2 she worked at the Ford Plant in MI.

She married Charles Grimes in Detroit MI on October 15, 1955 and he survives.

Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospital for crippled children

Graveside service will be held at Woodside Cemetery on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.

 Joan M. Hitchings,70 of Harvel died Jan. 19, 2012 at 4:45am at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL.

She was born on May. 21, 1941  in Taylorville, the daughter of  the late James M. and Dollie Evelyn (Mackie) Kellenberger.

She was a member of  the Harvel Women's Group, MS Society, Alter and Rosary, Foresters, and the Red Hats.
She married James L. Hitchings on Apr. 4, 1959 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church  in Raymond and he survives.

Survivors include her Husband Jim of Harvel, sons Brent (Patty) Hitchings of Eldorado, CA and Greg Hitchings of Denver, CO and daughters, Chris (Joe) Thiel of Loveland, OH, and Cheryl (Dave) of Missoula, MT. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren.

Roy L. Weitekamp , age 78 of Raymond

Roy L. Weitekamp , age 78 of Raymond died 1:00am  Thursday Jan. 19, 2012 at his home in Raymond.

Funeral Services will be held on Jan. 23,  2012 at 10:00am. at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond, IL with Fr. Bunse officiating.

Friends may call from 3 -6pm on Jan.22, 2012 at the Church.

Burial will be in St. Raymond’s Catholic Cemetery in Raymond, IL

Full Military rites will be provided by the Raymond American Legion Post 299.

Roy was born July 31, 1933 in Raymond, the son of Leo and Lucille (Berger) Weitekamp. 

After graduating from Raymond High School from 1952-1956, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Rendova CVE 114 and the USS Ticonderoga CVA.  He later returned home to continue the family farm business. 

Roy married Frances C. Ernst on February 9, 1957 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Coffeen. Roy was member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church and St. Raymond’s Knights of Columbus.  He and his wife Fran were active members with the Illinois Pork Producers Association both in Montgomery County and at the State Level.   He served 6 years on the Montgomery County Board.   He enjoyed watching Cardinal Baseball and playing cards.

Roy was the loving father of five children, Dianne (Jeff) Hampton,  Dale wife Kim of Raymond, Allan wife Laurie  of Farmersville,  Jane (Steve) Bynum and Nancy Morrow of St.  Louis, Missouri.  Roy is also survived by  10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and children he is survived by two brothers Al of Cudahy, WI and Ray  of St. David, AZ and  three sisters Marion Walber Jackson, MS , Loretta Boone of Mt. Pleasant, SC and  Loraine Flanagan of Encinitas, CA .  A sister, Sr. Rita Anne Weitekamp  and brother Howard Weitekamp proceeded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Panhandle Food Pantry, St Raymond/Asbury/ Raymond Cemetery or  Holy Mass.

Carl E. Peger age 94 of Raymond, Il

Carl E. Peger, 94, of Raymond died Jan. 15, 2012 at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Jan. 21, 2012 at 3:00pm. at Hough Funeral Home  in Raymond, IL.

Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond, IL.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1917  in Raymond, he was the son of  the late Carl W. and Mary Ann (Modrinski) Peger.

He married Phyllis Bechtel on Jan. 27, 1940 in Raymond. She preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2010.

Carl served in the US Marine Corp during WWII from 1943 until 1945.
He worked in construction most of his life having worked for Earl Bechtel for 14yrs ,Vasel Buildings for 30yrs and for himself for 23yrs.

“Peger” was an active member of the community, he served as village trustee from 67-81 and President of the Raymond Cemetery board for many years. He served as the Fireworks Chairman for the Raymond 4th of July for 45 years.  He was a Raymond Volunteer Fireman for 20yrs and a member of the Raymond American Legion Post 299 for 30yrs.

Survivors include daughters, Judith Ann (Charles) Reed of Glendale, AZ, and Sandra K. (Reuben) Smith of Raymond. He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
and 8 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and 2 sisters.

Chris A. Clarke,  age 47, of Springfield, Il

 

  Chris A. Clarke, 47,   of Springfield died Dec. 30, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday,  Jan. 3  2012 at 10:00am. at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, IL.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1964  in Litchfield, IL. He was born the son of  Pat and Marge ( Cosgriff ) Clarke of Farmersville.

 

Chris attended Wichita Technical Institute in Wichita, KS were he received an Associates Degree in Electronics. He worked at Rose International as an IT recruiter .

 

Chris was an avid fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and St. Louis Cardinals.

He was a member of the Springfield Ski and Boat Club and a member of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

 

Survivors include his Parents, the Love of his Life Jennifer Parrish of Springfield, two brothers, Dale (Ronda) Clarke of Fort Worth, TX and Lynn (Patty) Clarke of Farmersville.

he is also survived by two nephews and two nieces Dustin,Clayton, Danielle, and Kelsey.

He was preceded in death by a brother Dennis Clarke.

Ruth Marie Brown 86, of Litchfield passed away peacefully with her children by her side at 10:45 A.M. Friday Dec 9th at her residence in Litchfield.

Born in Springfield IL on Tuesday August 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Davis J. and Olive M. (Weis) fowler.

She was the widow of Raymond J. Brown. She married the love of her life at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville of Feb 5, 1948.

She went to St Isidore Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Farmersville High School in 1943. She received an accounting degree from Brown’s Business School.

She was a secretary for the Dean of Nurses at St John’s School of Nursing, She worked for Public Aid Division for the State of Illinois, She had worked as payroll clerk at St Francis Hospital, Hough Office Supply and International Paper Company in Litchfield.

She was a member of Holy family Parish Litchfield IL; she was a member of St Ann’s Society and the Montgomery County Democrats. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, swimming, gardening, antiquing and decorating her home.

She is survived by one son Donald Brown, Ft. Lauderdale FL, Daughter Colleen husband Jim Gray Litchfield one Sister Mary O’Bryen, Rochester IL, one sister in law: Sister M. Leola Brown OSF, Riverton IL, surviving are grandchildren Aaron wife Kelsey Gray of Florence AZ, Katie Gray of Chicago IL, Jacob Gray of Litchfield IL, Two great grandchildren Jamison and Ivy Gray of Florence AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ray on Oct. 29, 2005.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy family Parish, Litchfield IL at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday Dec 13, 2011 with Rev. Fr. James Neuman Officiating visitation will be Tuesday from 9 until service time at the church. Burial will be in Holy cross cemetery Litchfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy family Parish, Litchfield Food Pantry or Meals on wheels Golden Circle Nutrition Program.





Gordon Dwayne Slightom

 

Gordon Dwayne Slightom, 85, of Waggoner, died Sunday November 7, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday November 11, 2010 at the Carlinville Methodist Church in Carlinville with Pastor Robert Taylor, officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday November 10, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carlinville Methodist Church in Carlinville.  Burial will be at Providence Cemetery, Waggoner.  Memorials may be given to the Providence Cemetery.

 

Born November 7, 1925, in Wilsonville, He was the son of the late Miles Franklin and Esther Loretta (Whitfield) Slightom

 

He married Betty Irene Slusser on March 2, 1947, in Litchfield, IL and she survives. 

 

He was livestock Farmer, he also worked as a mechanic for Caterpillar, School Bus Driver, Brown Shoe Company as a Production worker and had served as Road Commissioner.

Gordon served in the US Navy during WWII from 1944-1946.  For many years Mr. Slightom has been the care taker of Providence Cemetery, he was also a member of the NRA, the American Legion and attended the Carlinville Methodist Church 

 

Survivors include three sons, Nolan Reid Slightom of Raymond, Eric Lee (Rebecca) Slightom of Carlinville, Brett (Beth) Slightom of Waggoner, a daughter Marla Gaye Blair of Lincoln, 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by two brothers Dwight (LaVern) Slightom of Carlinville and Thomas Slightom of Litchfield, and two sisters Donnis (Harold) Pettijohn of Litchfield and Carol (Leland) Boehme of Taylorville, IL

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Monica Gail Slightom 3 brothers, Donald, Dean and Darrell Slightom,  two sisters, Cora Wolff and Shirley Carroll

Velda Louise Lucas

 

Velda Louise Lucas, 87, of Farmersville, died Saturday November 6, 2010

at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Auburn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday November 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville with Father Jerry Bunse, officiating.  Visitation will be Monday November 8, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville.  Burial will be at St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery, Farmersville.  In lieu flowers,  memorials may be given to the Farmersville - Waggoner Ambulance Service or the Church.

 

Born July 8, 1923, in Farmersville, she was the daughter of the late Herman E. and Emma (Schafer) Heisman.

 

She married James R. Lucas on October 2, 1943, in Dothan, AL and he preceded her in death in 1984.

 

Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Survivors include three sons, James E. Lucas of Farmersville, Larry (Debbie) Lucas of Farmersville, and Denny (Karla) Lucas of Springfield, one daughter, Barb (Bill) Stottler of Farmersville and 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Alvin Heisman and a sister, Lela Heisman

Jeffery Andrew "Andy" Jeffers Sr., 65
Jeffery Andrew "Andy" Jeffers Sr., 65, of Litchfield died Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Friends are invited to call Sunday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. at Hough & Son's Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. Bill Baughman will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Born June 17, 1945, at Litchfield, he was a son of the late Claude and Martha (Tyler) Jeffers. He married Carol Stephens Jan. 29, 2005, and she survives. He had previously been married to Paula Maurer.

Mr. Jeffers had been employed at Ellinger Sanitation in Litchfield, Scharfenbergs Sanitation, Enviro Waste Systems, Bryant Sanitation and most recently Waste Management Sanitation, all in Carlinville.

He was a member of South Side Baptist Church in Litchfield and was a 1963 graduate of Litchfield High School. He held memberships in the Litchfield Moose Lodge, Litchfield VFW, AMVETS and Eagles. His family said he loved spending time with family, outdoor activities, music and animals.

He is survived by a daughter, Corinna (husband Bob) Parish of Litchfield; three sons, Jeff (wife Veronica) Jeffers of Gillespie, Sonny (wife Janice) Jeffers of Roodhouse, and Jerry (wife Jamie) Jeffers of Litchfield; four brothers, Bobby, Chas, John and Harold Jeffers; six sisters, Phylis Jett, Claudette Jett, Ada Lane, Ruth Ann Cooper, Ruby Forrest and Maggie Scott.

 He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sheila Dohleman, Emmy Jo Hasquin, Jessica Jeffers, Kassie Jeffers, Nathan Jeffers, Sheena Alexander, Megan Jeffers, Lance Jeffers, Kelsey Crabtree, Kyle Jeffers, Kristen Jeffers and Gabe Jeffers; stepgrandchildren, Shayla Wimsett, Richard Wilson Jr., Kylie Wilson and Alexus Wilson; four great-grandchildren, Grace and Austin Dohleman, and Nicholas and Bryan Hasquin, and one due in February.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Patty Janssen, Marilee Jeffers and Cecelia Tyler; a niece, Brenda Jeffers; three grandchildren, Amanda Jeffers, Nikki Parish and Andrew Jeffers; a great-grandchild, Cheyanne Dohleman; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Jeffers.

Mark D. Reynolds, 40

Mark D. Reynolds, 40, of New Douglas died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at rural Coffeen.

Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hough & Son's Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home, with Brother Henry Crippen officiating. Burial will be at Olive Hill Cemetery, Coffeen.

Born Jan. 13, 1970, at Granite City, he was a son of Monroe and Hope D. (Palank) Reynolds. He was a 1988 graduate of Granite City Senior High School. He was employed at Oberbeck Grain in Highland.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancee, Stephanie Pruett of New Douglas; sister, Christy (husband Nathan) Hemken of Donnellson; and nephew, Collin Wasson of Donnellson.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kaden Pruett in January 2009.

Terry Robertson, 46

Terry Robertson, 46, of Irving died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Born June 17, 1964, at Greenville, he was a son of John and Carolyn Robertson. He married Angela Embrick Oct. 9, 2004, and she survives.

Mr. Robertson graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1983. He worked as an over the road truck driver. He was of the baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Carolyn Bandy; three sisters, Carol (husband Richard) Gudausky, Mary (husband Jerry) Rider and Sherri Bandy; three brothers, Claud (wife Debrah) Robertson, Floyd Bandy and Joe Bandy; mother-in-law, Darlene Sanders; father-in-law, Donald Embrick; four nieces, Kayla Myers, Emily Unger, Alexis Newell and Sierra Overton; seven nephews, Michael (wife Amanda) Myers, Christopher Myers, Dakota Bandy, Johnathon Durbin, Kyle Bandy, Phoenix (Peanut) Presley and David Reed; two great-nieces, Alayna Myers and Jaelynn Myers; great-nephew, Mason Unger; brother-in-law, Marvin (wife Pam) Newell; and two sisters-in-law, Ursula Embrick and Kandi (husband Chuck) Reed.

He was preceded in death by his two fathers, John Robertson and LeRoy Bandy; one niece, Darlene Robertson; and one nephew, Bradley Presley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Terry Robertson family.

 

 

Carol Joyce Kurfiss, 65

Carol Joyce Kurfiss, 65, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Hillsboro

Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. at Hough & Son's Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Ralph Ward and the Rev. James Howie officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery, Hillsboro. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kurfiss was born Saturday, April 28, 1945, the daughter of the late Cleveland and Lueva (Frailey) Bandy, at Litchfield. She married Lenny Kurfiss Oct. 8, 1961, at Waveland Presbyterian Church and he survives.

She worked as a cook at the Hillsboro Moose Lodge for ten years, at the Hillsboro Dairy Queen and was a school bus driver for over 12 years. She also worked on the family farm.

She was a member of Waveland Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, and a past member of the Women of The Moose, Hillsboro. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and going on walks.

 Survivors include a daughter, Lea Pennington of Kingston; two sons, Larry Kurfiss and Lynn Kurfiss both of Hillsboro; a brother, Gary Bandy of St. Peters, MO; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son Lenny Kurfiss Jr. in 1999.

Terry M. Applegate, 56

Terry Michael Applegate, 56, of Hillsboro died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010.

Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hough & Son's Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Sands officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Born April 17, 1954, at Hillsboro, he was a son of the late Earl Applegate and Nadine and Irvin (Scharf) Beal. He had been married to Becky Moler, and then to Donna Janssen Hemken.

A 1972 graduate of Litchfield High School, he attended Lincoln Land Community College. He worked as a truck driver at Sharon Williams Trucking at Bingham. He previously drove trucks for Moler Trucking and Excavating and worked at Monterey Coal Mine #1 at Carlinville.

He was a member of Waveland Church, UMWA Local 1613, and a past member of the Hillsboro Moose. He had been a wrestler in high school.

Survivors include a son, William M. (wife Tricia) Applegate of Hillsboro; daughter, Amanda (husband Michael) Myers of Taylor Springs; sister, Linda (husband Steve) Hamby of Walshville; three brothers, Gary (wife Karen) Applegate of Boardman, OR, Rich (wife Kim) Applegate of Walshville, and Jim (wife Venita) Beal of Jacksonville; an aunt, Clara Mae Whitten of Coffeen; a great-aunt, Hazel Scharf of Litchfield; two grandchildren, Eric S. Applegate and Mykenzie Loskot of Hillsboro, and a grandchild on the way; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Maynard R. Bost, 84

Maynard "Ducky" Bost, 84, of Raymond died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 in Carlinville at Carlinville Rehab and Health Care.

Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond with Father Jerry Bunse officiating. Burial will be at St. Raymond Catholic Cemetery in Raymond.

Mr. Bost was born May 20, 1926 in Raymond, the son of the late Dwight L. and Alice E. (Snell) Bost. He married Helen Niehaus in Hillsboro on Jan. 15, 1953, and she survives.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He was assigned to the Co. G 325th Glider Infantry, which was involved in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany on Dec. 16, 1944.

Bost spent most of his life farming. He enjoyed life on the farm, the time spent with family and friends, Cardinal baseball and horses. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and a 50 year member of St. Raymond's K of C.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Mike (wife Karyl) Bost of Morrisonville; four daughters, Karen (husband David) Dirksmeyer, Donna (husband Mike) Martin of Farmersville, Debbie (husband Ron) Kibler of Divernon, and Mary Davis of Auburn; 12 grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Murray and Marvin, and a sister, Margaret.

Robin Anne Meisner, 54

Robin Anne Meisner, 54 of Flower Mound, TX passed away at her home with family and friends by her side, on October 17, 2010.

She was born the daughter of the late Glenn and Bernice (Gesler) Copeland on August 30, 1956 in Lima, OH. She married Rick Meisner in Creve Coeur, MO on September 25, 1982.

For many years she assisted numerous travelers with their plans having been a travel agent for most of her working life.

Robin could be best described as a very loving, caring and generous person. Her friendship was valued and cherished by many and will be greatly missed.

She was a member of the St. Phillip Catholic Church in Flower Mound, where she volunteered often; she also was a volunteer at the Flower Mound Humane Soc.

Besides her husband, she is survived by 3 sons Justin (wife Melanie) of Orlando, FL, Nicholas of Dallas, TX, Christopher and his companion Mary Kitchen of Lewisville, TX. She also leaves one sister Dr. Bonnie Copeland of Baltimore, MD.  She is also survived by many in laws in the area.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother in law and father in law Doris and Vince Meisner .

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday from 6-8pm at one of Robin’s favorite spots, Little Pete’s Restaurant at Twin Coves Marina on Lake Grapevine in Flower Mound, TX    

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond, IL on Saturday October 23, 2010 at 11:00am. Friends may call from 9-11 am on Saturday at the church.

Burl L. Rabich Sr., 52


Burl L. Rabich Sr., 52, of Litchfield, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond with burial in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Rabich was born on Oct. 31, 1957, in Litchfield, the son of the late Gordon and Doris (Klitz) Rabich. He married Georgia Higgins on Sept. 27, 1976, in Vandalia and she survives.

A life member of the Litchfield AmVets, he served in the Army National Guard, worked for National Maintenance, on the railroad and did roofing.

Along with his wife, Mr. Rabich is survived by two sons, Burl (wife Stephanie) Rabich Jr. of Raymond and Cody Rabich of Farmersville; two daughters, Michelle (husband Bert) Zumwalt of Litchfield and Peggy Rabich of Farmersville; four sisters, Julie (husband John Staley) Catalano of Decatur, Jodi Rabich of Springfield, Lola (husband Mike) Reynolds of Litchfield and Joyce (husband Pete) Manna of Maple Park; mother-in-law, Nora Law of Litchfield; and six grandchildren.

A brother, George Rabich, and a grandson preceded him in death.

Audra Toberman, 95

Audra Toberman, 95, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at 9:35 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylor Springs.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore, with the Rev. Randy Sands officiating.

Born July 18, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora (Pickerill) Brown. She married Lewey Toberman on Feb. 19, 1937 in Carlinville and he preceded her in death on May 26, 2001.

She and her husband lived on the Frank Cress farm in the Fillmore area for several years. They sold the farm and moved to Hillsboro where they lived for 34 years. She was an active homemaker and farm wife.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth (wife Jean) Brown; four grandchildren, Debbie Brown Drobnack, Karen Brown Woods, Lee Brown and Crystal Rivila; and seven great-grandchildren, Whitney, Sarah, Dylan, Skylar, Lillie, Nicholas and Careron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Gladys Brown Spears.

Jon's B. Mitts, 76

Jon's B. Mitts, 76 of Harvel, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at his son's home in Raymond.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 19 from noon until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., at Hough Funeral Home, Raymond, with the Rev. Ted Schelich officiating. Burial will be at Harvel Cemetery, Harvel.

Mr. Mitts was born May 4, 1934, a son of the late Fred John and Gladys (Stockstill) Mitts. He married Marcella E. Schnarre and she preceded him in death Sept. 27, 2005.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959. After serving his country, he was employed by the Village of Raymond as a police officer, and later for area trucking companies as a driver and as a farm hand for area farmers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family and a good conversation over a cup of coffee with his "coffee buddies."

Survivors include two sons, Victor Dean (wife Diane) Mitts of Swansea and Jon (wife Nicki) Mitts of Raymond; a daughter, Carla Mitts of Farmersville; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Wade of Morrisonville and Dorothy Hill of Mt. Olive; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jon's B. Mitts; a grandson, Dalton Mitts; and two brothers, Fred J. Mitts and Howard G. Mitts.

John R. McClelland, 66

John R. McClelland, 66, of Harvel died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Harvel Cemetery.

Born Aug. 27, 1944, at Clarion, Iowa, he was a son of the late Max Carlyle and Marian Cecelia (Jensen) McClelland. He married Cheryl Frarer Nov. 26, 1966, at Hillsboro. She survives.

Mr. McClelland worked as a parts man at several area dealerships including W.P. Balsley Imp., Trinity Motors, Bandy Chevrolet, Raymond Ford, and most recently Timmermann Implement in Litchfield.

He had served on the Harvel Village Board, attended the Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville, and was a member of the Raymond Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Meri Beth (husband Dave) Weller of Farmersville; four grandchildren, Kierstyn Taylor, Ashlynn Elizabeth, Blade Charles Douglas and Emme Rose, all of Farmersville; a brother, Ronald McClelland of Washington state; an aunt, Ruth Moen of Dennison, Iowa; a cousin and several nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Nollen.

James A. 'Jim' McConathy, 75

 

James A. "Jim" McConathy, 75, of Litchfield died Sept. 27, 2010, at his home.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Private family funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.

Born Feb. 24, 1935, at Litchfield, he was a son of the late Earl and Beatrice (White) McConathy. He married Mildred Louise Harrington in Litchfield Aug. 20, 1957. She preceded him in death Sept. 13, 2003.

Mr. McConathy owned and operated McConathy Amoco in Litchfield for 35 years. He enjoyed working around his home and his family.

He is survived by a daughter, Maureen McConathy of Litchfield and her companion, David Loveless.

Robert Leo Spinner, 86, of Hillsboro died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. until service time at noon at Hough & Son's Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. Ted Schelich will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Coffeen.

Born Feb. 2, 1924, at East Fork Township, he was a son of the late Leo and Ester (Huber) Spinner. He married Betty L. Meyers July 5, 1948, at St. John's Catholic Church in Coffeen. She preceded him in death March 27, 2002.

A 1941 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Y2c in World War II. Mr. Spinner had worked in sales at Kelly Foods for 30 years. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro and a 20 year member of the Hillsboro Knights of Columbus #4608 and the Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377.

Survivors include a sister, Rita Chaudoin of Gulf Port, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund Spinner in 1996; and a sister, Doris Meisner in 2003.

James A. Roberts, 73

 

James A. Roberts, 73, of Leesburg, FL, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at 5 p.m., at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29, starting at 6 p.m. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home. Masonic Rites by Mt. Moriah Lodge #51 will begin at 7:30 p.m., and a memorial service will begin at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus officiating.

Mr. Roberts was born Oct. 9, 1936, at Hillsboro, a son of James R. and Carrie Alberta (Alexander) Roberts. He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the Class of 1954.

He married Sherry Shaffer and the couple divorced in 1980. He married Carole Graham June 7, 1982, at Hillsboro Free Methodist Church. She survives in Leesburg.

Mr. Roberts was a butcher, a member of Meatcutter's Local #534, in area grocery stores for 38 years, primarily at Hillsboro Capri IGA, from its opening until his retirement in 1998.

He had been an avid hunter from youth through the late 1970's and helped organize and operate the Shoal Creek Coonhunters Club. He was an avid fisherman, which played a large role in luring him in retirement, with his wife, to Florida.

While in Florida, he acquired a passion for golf and reacquainted himself with pool. He enjoyed dancing and was gardening in his later years.

Mr. Roberts was a life member of Hillsboro Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #51, serving in various capacities including two terms as Worshipful Master in 1986 and 1990. He was also a member of the Royal Arch Masons serving in 1988 as High Priest, Hermon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and Ansar Shrine, Springfield. He had been a member of Hillsboro Calvary Baptist Church prior to relocating to Florida.

Survivors include one son, Jim (wife Pam) Roberts of Hillsboro; two daughters, Mona Stevens of Dallas City and Laura (husband Danny) Melton of Sorento; six grandchildren, Ben Stevens, Abbey and Rachael Roberts, Dane Morgan, Kelsey and Casey Melton; one great-grandchild, Reini Morgan; and two sisters, Carol Ridenhour of Dellwood, MO, and Gail Shakespeare of Litchfield.

He was preceded in death by two daughters in infancy and son-in-law, Mark Stevens.

 

Howard G. Mitts, 82

 

Funeral services for Howard George Mitts, 82, of Raymond will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Pastor Scott Busacker will officiate, and burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Raymond. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. and lasts until 7 at Hough's on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Mr. Mitts died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at 5:06 a.m. in St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield. He was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Raymond to Fred John and Gladys (Stockstill) Mitts. He married Roberta B. Jackson on May 12, 1951, in Hillsboro; she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia J. Hobson and Pamela S. (husband Larry) Lanter, all of Raymond; two sons, James (wife Debbie) Mitts of Greentown, IN, and Robert D. (companion Jessica) Mitts of Bradley; eight grandchildren, Shawn Hobson of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy Hobson of Raymond, Austin and Courtney Mitts, both of Greentown, IN, Jazzlyn Mitts and Zoie Mitts, both of Bradley, Kayla M. and Lacey J. Lanter, both of Raymond; one great-grandson, Trenton Hobson; two sisters, Elaine Wade of Morrisonville and Dorothy Hill of Mt. Olive; one brother, Jons Mitts of Harvel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Shannon L. Hobson; and one brother, Fred Mitts.

The residents of Raymond knew Howard as the "Mayor" of Pinhook, a small area in the southwest corner of town. He was employed by several area businesses over the years, including Herman's Garage, Herman's Ford Tractor Sales, Lanter's Corner, Benning's Equipment, and Louis Marsh (1971-1991).

He was Raymond Township Road Commissioner from 1955-1971 and was one of the early volunteer firemen. In the 1940's and '50's he belonged to the "Prairie Dogs," a local motorcycle club, and he raced stock cars at area tracks, including Litchfield and Springfield. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Ruby Eileen Egelhoff, 85, of Raymond, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylor Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, at St. Raymond Catholic Church, Raymond, with the Rev. Jerry Bunse, the Rev. George Morelock, and the Rev. Robert Spriggs officiating. Visitation will be Monday Sept. 6, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Asbury Cemetery, Raymond.

Mrs. Egelhoff was born Feb. 4, 1925, a daughter of John Miller and Fannie (Mindrup) Miller at Irving Township. She married Wendell Hugh Egelhoff Dec. 15, 1949, at Witt. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 2003.

Mrs. Egelhoff worked as a cook at Harvel Grade School for the Panhandle Unit School District No. 2 from January 1968 to August 1985. She was a member of the Raymond American Legion Post 299 Auxiliary, St. Raymond Catholic Church, and the St. Raymond's Altar Rosary. A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, and making pies.

Survivors include two daughters, Judie Egelhoff, and Connie (husband Greg) Beck of Raymond; two grandsons, Craig (wife Amber) Harmon, and Kerby Harmon of Raymond; two great-granddaughters, Carlee and Mckenna Harmon of Raymond; two sisters, Jean (husband Edward) Pilgrim of East Alton, and Marilyn (husband Henry "Bud") Snoddy of Schram City; and sisters-in-law, Betty Traylor of Coffeen, Willa Blandin of Gillespie; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Harold (wife Ruby) Miller.

Helen E Ezop age 83

Helen E. Ezop, 83, of Farmersville, formerly of Springfield, died Aug. 24, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery in Farmersville. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ezop was born in Chicago on May 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Matthew and Eva Maser. She married George Ezop July 2, 1951, and he preceded her in death in 2003.

She worked at CIPS for 35 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra (husband Charles) Ginger of Springfield; four grandchildren, Justin (wife Beth) Millburg of Farmersville, Jessica Millburg of Raymond, David Caillier of Raleigh, NC, and Rachel Caillier of Springfield; and four great-grandchildren, Tanner and Taryn Millburg, and Peyton and Cohwen Atkins of Raymond. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters in Chicago.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancee Millburg; a brother; and two sisters.

Marie Arter age 86

Marie V. Arter, 86, of Raymond, died Aug. 20, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvel, on Thursday, Aug. 26, with the Rev. Scott Busacker officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at a later time in Roselawn Memorial Park, Springfield.

Visitation will be at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 5 until 7 p.m.

Mrs. Arter was born on Oct. 4, 1923, in Litchfield, a daughter of Paul and Ida (Veit) Fedder. She married Earl David Gruber on Aug. 8, 1945, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1958. She then married William Ballinger Arter on March 12,1960, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1996.

She was a lifelong Lutheran and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel where she was a member of the quilters group. She enjoyed time with family, working puzzle books, nightly devotions and caring for others.

Mrs. Arter is survived by seven children, Gary (wife Christine) Gruber of Bloomington, Linda (husband David) Becerril-Low of Philomath, OR, Rex (wife Shelly) Arter of Raymond, Robert (wife Carla) Arter of Assumption, William (wife Susan) Arter of Decatur, Donald (wife Margaret) Arter of Peru, and Merrie Lynn (husband Dennis) Spindel of Springfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Pauline and Lucille and one daughter, Connie Arter.

Tony Dyer age 64

Clifford A. "Tony" Dyer, 64, of Hillsboro died Aug. 18, 2010, at his home.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend.

Born Aug. 19, 1945, at Litchfield, he was a son of the late Clifton H. and Lola B. (Jackson) Dyer. He married Judy Lynn Smith in Litchfield, and she preceded him in death on May 24, 1981.

Mr. Dyer enjoyed fishing and playing guitar.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry in 1994, and Stanley in 2010.

Gloria Jean Reed, 74, of Waggoner died on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at her home in Waggoner. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Reed was born on Jan. 16, 1936, in Fenton, MI, to Harold Bruce and Vivian Mae (Lang) Sanford.

Myers, FL; 15 grandchildren, Rudolf "Kurt' (wife Jonilee) Bachmann of Oklahoma, Kristina (husband Keith) Delancy of Delaware, Nickolas Bachmann of Oklahoma, Erica (husband Brian) Grogg of Florida, Holly (husband David) Showalter of South Carolina, Michael Grimm of Florida, Dana (husband Rick) Payne of Michigan, Austin Grimm of Michigan, Lisa Grimm of Michigan, Chris (wife Ann) Grimm of Girard, Brandi and Shaun Boehler of Waggoner, and Kenneth, Tyler, and Amanda Reed of Ft. Shirley Hartman, 70

Shirley Faye McCaslin Hartman, 70, of Irving died at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Hillsboro Rehab and Healthcare.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Gary Stanford officiating. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Born on April 15, 1940, in Nokomis, she was the daughter of Myrtle Sanders McCaslin of Nokomis and the late Ernie McCaslin. She married Larry Hartman of Irving in 1968.

A graduate of Nokomis High School, she was employed at Hillsboro Glass Factory and Casey's in Irving.

Mrs. Hartman is survived by her mother; husband; children, Sherri Hartline (companion Chris Gutierrez) of Hillsboro, Jerry (wife Tabitha) Hartman of Irving, Rick (wife Kathy) Guyot and Kevin (wife Tracy) Guyot, all of Nokomis; Tina (husband Travis) Jeffrey and Mike (wife Michelle) Guyot, all of Orange Park, FL; 14 grandchildren including Ashley Hartman, Britney Hartline, and Jordan and Andrian Hartman; a great-grandchild, Hunter Gross; two sisters, Eileen Hill and Connie (husband Ronnie) Hughes, all of Nokomis; and a brother, Randy McCaslin.

Preceding her in death were her father; son, Roger Guyot; granddaughter, Ellisha Guyot; great-grandson, Landon Gross; and a brother, Leroy McCaslin.

Charles E. Rimmel, 97

Charles E. Rimmel, 97, of Litchfield, formerly of Decatur, died at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Ed Fogle officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Born in Taylor Springs on Wednesday, March 5, 1913, he was the son of the late Eszra and Ruby (Buford) Rimmel. He married Edna M. Adams on Dec. 25, 1936.

Mr. Rimmel was employed at Thomas Jefferson School District. He also worked at A.E. Staley in Decatur and Brown Shoe Factory in Litchfield. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and card player.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Charles "Chuck" W. (wife Peggy) Rimmel of Gillespie; daughter, Charlene (husband Gary) McNew of Taylor Springs; grandchildren, William (wife Joyce) Rimmel of Litchfield, Robert (wife Kim) Rimmel of Decatur, Amy (husband Randy) Evans of Decatur, Shelly (husband Mike) Benning of Raymond, Nicole (husband Mike) Schweiss of Milstadt; great-grandchildren, Drew, Chynna, Sharee, Colt and Broc Benning, Nichole Wright, Christina Dexheimer, Robbie Rimmel, Lynsday Rimmel, Christopher Lafferty, William Lafferty, and Charles Rimmel III; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Charles Rimmel, Jr., and Deborah Rimmel; and two sisters, Ruth and Luella.

Melinda Jo Marten, age 20

 

Melinda J. Marten, age 20 of Raymond passed away on July 23, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

 

She was born on Aug. 5 1989 in Springfield the daughter of Carl and Marlene Wagahoff  Marten of Raymond.

She was a 2007 graduate of Lincolnwood High School were she belonged to National Honor Society, Drama Club, and  High School Chorus.

 

She had attended Lincoln Land Community Collage were she was studying Speech and Language Pathology.

Melinda was active in the Raymond Buckeyes 4-H. She was a member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond  were she had served   as a Server, Cantor, and as a member of the Choir, she also belonged to the St. Raymond’s Youth Group. Melinda cherished the time that she spent with her family and friends.

 

Besides her parents she is survived by a sister Sara and a brother Tim, both of Raymond.  She is survived by several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Melinda is also survived by her great-great Aunt, Auntie Pearl Hitchings of Litchfield,  of whom she enjoyed spending time with.   She was preceded by her grand parents Francis and Ruth Marten and Bob and Betty Wagahoff.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday July 26, 2010 from 4-8pm at St. Raymond’s

 

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday July 27, 2010 at 10:00am at the Church

 

Burial will be in St. Raymond’s Catholic Cemetery in Raymond

Fred Walden age 60

Fred E. Walden age 60 of Litchfield passed away July 14, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Fred was born the son of Laura Mae Petty Walden of Litchfield and the late Ross Eugene Walden in Hillsboro on October 21, 1949.

He married Kathy Hantla in Springfield in 2002

He worked in the Coal Industry for many years, starting out as a miner in 1971 until about 1990, working in the Monterey Mine in Carlinville and at the Freeman Mines near Farmersville.  For the last 20yrs Fred has been an Inspector for the State of Illinois.  He started out working as a Land Reclamation Inspector and in 2006 he became a State Mine Inspector for the Department of Natural Resources. 

Fred was a member of the UMWA, the Mt. Mariah Masonic Lodge in Hillsboro, the ANSAR Shrine in Springfield, and a Democrat Precinct Committee Member.  Besides his love for the coal mine and his family, he enjoyed Fishing, the outdoors, he loved his dogs Tank and Barrick and most of all he loved to visit with friends and family.

Fred was his sister night in shinning armor and was proud the day is brother was born.

Besides his wife and mother he is survived by a son Shane Walden of N.C, a stepson Richie (Rose) Davis of Waggoner and a Stepdaughter Renee (Chad) Matthews of Taylor Springs, IL the Step Granddaughters Abbie Butler, and Chelsey  and Kayla Matthews. He is also survived by his sister Connie (Jim) Goldasich of Port Byron, IL and a brother Frank Walden of Litchfield.

Visitation will be held on Friday July 16, 2010 from 4-8pm at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 10:00am at the Church.

Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield

WAGGONER – Winston Robinette, Sr. Passed away Tuesday, July 6, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Hillsboro, IL.

 

He was born October 1, 1917, the son of Ray and Gertrude (Elsberry) Robinette. He married Kathaleen Jack on December 14, 1936.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clifford, Elbert and Roy.

 

Mr. Robinette was a US Navy Veteran, serving in World War II, and a member of the Kincaid American Legion. He was employed by Freeman United Coal Company, retiring in 1972 and was a member of UMWA.  Winston and  Kathaleen were married for 73 years. Winston was an avid fan of show cars, hot rods and antique automobiles. He loved to spend time with the pride and joy of his life, his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Kathaleen of Litchfield, sister, Martha Schoppman, of Taylorville, brother, Harold “Dean”, of Hereford, AZ. Children, Norvella (Loren) Arkebauer, of Taylorville, Norma (David) Black, of Palmer, Sue (Ron) Schneider, of Pawnee, Winston Jr. (Teresa Eller), of Witt, Mary (Jerry) Wake, of Virden, Karen (Ralph Jenkins), of Millersville and Bart (Monica), of Girard. There are 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and his beloved pet “Barney”.

 

Graveside services for family and friends will be held Sunday, @ 2:00 p.m. at Macoupin Creek Cemetery, Farmersville.

Diane Ruth Bentley-Hopkins of Monroe, Washington but Formally of Springfield, passed away at 6:46am on July 07, 2010 in Raymond, at the home of her Father’s.

 

She was born on Dec. 31, 1955 in Springfield, the daughter of Darryl Bentley of Raymond and the late Dorothy Jean Mathis-Bentley.

 

She is survived by her Husband Hank Hopkins of Monroe Washington,  a daughter Stephanie Greive of Fairfield, IL,  a son Jason Banks of St. Louis, MO, and 3 grandchildren.

 

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Darlene (Dee) Robertson of Witt died Sunday, June 20, 2010 in her residence.

A memorial service will be held at the Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 24. The Rev. Jerry Woods will officiate. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation at Hough's will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. the day of the service, June 24.

She was born in Springfield on Jan. 25, 1984, to Randy Durbin and Mary (Robertson) Rider. A 2002 graduate of Litchfield High School, she had worked as a greeter at Walmart in Litchfield and also worked at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs.

She is survived by her parents; her stepfather, Jerome Rider of Witt; grandmother Carolyn Bandy of Witt; grandparents Melvin and Diana Durbin of Witt; grandmother Philomena Rider of Eldorado; great-grandparents Floyd and Dorothy Durbin of Taylorville; one brother, Jonathan Durbin of Witt; one sister, Kourtney Clark of Coffeen; uncles Terry (wife Angela) Robertson of Irving, Claude Robertson of Witt, Floyd Bandy of Nokomis, and Joseph "Joe" Bandy of Staunton; aunts Carol (husband Richard) Gudausky of Witt, Sherri Bandy of Witt, and Dawn Durbin of Nokomis; and cousins Michael (wife Amanda) Myers of Taylor Springs, Kayla Myers of Witt, Christopher Myers of Witt, Kyle Bandy of Pennsylvania, Dakota Bandy, Alayna Myers and Jaelynn Myers, all of Witt, and Payton Clark of Coffeen.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Leroy Bandy, grandfather John Wesley Robertson, and great-grandmother Bertie Eggiman.

She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Schram City.

Risieri L. (KI) Buttol, 83, of Schram City, died at 11:48 a.m., June 19, 2010.

Graveside services were held June 23, at St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Fr. James Neuman officiating.

The son of the late Joe and Threasa Buttol, he was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Hillsboro. He later married Margaret Wheat, and she survives.

Leslie F. "Pat" Shroyer, 85, of Mt. Olive died at 12:17 a.m., June 14, 2010 at Litchfield Healthcare Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 18, at Hough & Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Fr. Ted Schelich officiating. Burial was at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.

Born in Hettick on Dec. 7, 1924, Mr. Shroyer was the son of the late Daniel Roscoe and Myrtle (Long) Shroyer. He married Eleanor Sale on June 30, 1957, in Mt. Vernon.

He worked as a plumber with Local 137 in Springfield and was a lifetime member of the Springfield Local 137 Pipefitters and Steamfitters Union, and a lifelong farmer on his family's farm. Mr. Shroyer served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a S/SGT in WWII.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, James M. (wife Bette) Shroyer of Lynwood, WA, Daniel W. (wife Suzette) Shroyer of Irving, Frank L. Shroyer of Alton, and Kevin C. Shroyer of Mt. Olive; five daughters, Patricia S. (husband Alan) Lockwood of San Diego, CA, Lola L. Gibbs of Pomona, CA, Donna Sale (companion John Meckles) of Staunton, Julie L. (husband James) Whittaker of Tomball, TX, and Leslie J. Shroyer of Gilbert, AZ; a stepson, Henry Winn of Gilbert, AZ; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shroyer is also survived by three sisters, Lois (husband Norman) Johnston of Manchester, MO, Nona Sevier of Branson, MO, and Deanna (husband Everett) Bourland of Mt. Vernon, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Tanner; three brothers, David "Jack", Russell and Richard Shroyer; a daughter, Helen M. Koches; a great-nephew, James A. Taylor; nephew, Richard Mark; and a brother-in-law, Robert Sevier.

Marylyn Verna (Toberman) Leonard   age 83 of rural Harvel passed away at 10:45 am on June 14, 2010 at her home.

 

Marylyn was born December 1, 1926, in rural Coffeen the daughter of the late Scott and Eunice (Sills) Toberman.    She married Lyle Leonard February 22, 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Noelan Toberman.  She worked at Hillsboro National Bank from 1944 to 1949.  Marylyn was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society and Farmersville Senior Citizens.

 

She is survived by her son David (Bea), of Harvel daughter Barbara (Kevin) Valentine of Raymond,  grandchildren Amy (Rick) Loughry, Kristi (Jim) Hester, Scott (Destiny) Herpstreith, Colby (Paula Cimorose) Valentine, Joshua (Jennifer Chorn) Strode and George (Kara) Strode.  Her great-grandchildren are Jake and Josh Loughry and Rylie, Colten and Alyvia Hester. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruth Aherin and Jean Toberman along with several nieces and nephews.

 

Her family would like you to remember Marylyn as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her happiness was living on the farmstead and caring for her family.

Glenn Heaton age 83

 

Glenn Albert Heaton age 83 passed away at 9:32 am on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at his home. He was born on September 6, 1926 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late William Richard “Dick” and Thelma (Myers) Heaton.

 

He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1945.

 

He married Pauline Thomas in 1945 and ended in divorce.

 

He had worked as a body man for area dealerships for a number of years before going to work in the maintenance dept. for the State of Illinois.

 

He is survived by a son David (Dorothy) Heaton of Farmersville and a daughter Ruth Byers of Farmersville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Maria (Dave) McFeggan of South Elgin, IL, Ronda Folkerts of Springfield, Richard Byers of Springfield, IL and Brian (Amy) Byers of Waggoner, IL and great grandchildren Luke and Lauren Folkerts; Jordan and Elyse McFeggan and Morgan and Madison Byers. He also leaves a sister Wanda Greenwood and brother Charles “Chuck” Heaton both of Litchfield along with several Nieces and Nephews.

 

Besides his parents he was preceded by companion Jean Morse, Glen was preceded by one brother Shirley Heaton and one sister Delores Reed Kahal; a son-in-law Russell Byers, two grandchildren; Shane Heaton and Robin Byers; and also a grandson-in-law Mark Folkerts.

 

Memorials may be left to the Farmersville/Waggoner Ambulance Service or the Montgomery County Cancer Association.

Charlotte Wagehoft-Blakley of Auburn formerly of Morrisonville and Pawnee died Friday, April 23, 2010

 at Litchfield Health Care Center in Litchfield.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday April 28, 2010 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel. The Rev Richard Harre of Auburn  Trinity Lutheran Church and Rev Scott Busacker of Harvel Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate  with Burial in Harvel Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held Tuesday April 27, 2010 at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond from 4-7pm
 

 

Born June 3, 1919 at Blue Mound, to the late William Oscar and Della

(Bottrell) Himstedt.  On Oct. 1, 1939 she married Kenneth H. Wagehoft at Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville.  He preceded her in death July 18, 1977.  On Feb. 14, 1984 she married Thomas R. Blakley of Pawnee at Trinity Lutheran Church, Auburn.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2007.

 

Mrs. Wagehoft-Blakley was a lifelong farm wife in the Morrisonville/Pawnee area.  She was well known for her home baked old fashion sugar cookies.  She also was the maker of the famous strawberry pies for The Truckers Homestead Restaurant at the I55-Auburn exit.

 

She was an accomplished musician since the young age of 13, playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica and singing.  She sang and played guitar for ten years, along with her two older daughters, at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO.  While in Branson she also appeared on stage with Barbara Fairchild and Willie Nelson.

 

In 1992 and 1997 she and her daughters released two CD/cassette recordings of old time gospel music, under the group titled "Singing For Joy."  She shared her God given talent with so many in her lifetime.

 

Charlotte had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvel and Trinity Lutheran Church, Auburn.

 

She is survived by three sons, Raymond (wife Myra) Wagehoft, Coralville, IA, Herman (wife Diana) Wagehoft, Hanna City and Harland (wife Debbie) Wagehoft, Manhatton; three daughters, Irene (husband Allen) Johnson, Hollister, MO, Della (husband Jim) Niemann, Litchfield and Rhonda (husband Bill) Matthews, Blair, NE; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 step grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren and

2 step great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Katie Tippitt of Taylorville.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Everett, Kenis, Leonard and Luther Himstedt; three sisters Luella Beamer, Evelyn Green and Ethel Kent; a daughter, May Ilene Wagehoft (twin to Irene Johnson);three grandsons, Ryan Wagehoft, Brent Matthews and Jason Wagehoft and a step granddaughter, Tonya Robinson.

Juanita B. Morse, 94

Juanita B. Morse, 94, of Hillsboro, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Randy Sands will officiate. Mausoleum encryptment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery and Mausoleum in Canton.

Mrs. Morse was born on March, 4, 1916 in Bushnell, a daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Bradshaw) Smith. She was a graduate of Pekin High School.

She married Robert Morse on Nov. 10, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Morse was employed at Gale Products in Galesburg from 1942 until 1978. She was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Morse is survived by a stepdaughter, four nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by two stepsons, two brothers, two sisters, two nieces and a nephew.

Lynn William Edge, 56 of Pekin (formerly of Raymond) passed away on April 15, 2010at the home of his sister after a courageous battle of cancer.

 

Lynn was born March 19, 1954 in Springfield, born the son of the late Frank Edge & and Doris (Pratt) Edge of Pekin.

He is survived by a sister Connie (Jim) Kraus, a niece Kim (Jeff) Dupage, and a nephew Jeff (Mary) Kraus all of Pekin. He is also survived by 3 Great Nephews, Nathan, Andrew, and Ben also of Pekin. He was preceded by a sister Sue Edge.

 

He last worked as a welder for Jim Herrmann in Raymond. Lynn was of the Christian faith. He graduated from Lincolnwood High School. Lynn was a loving son, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed. Lynn had gift of gab and never met a stranger or a person that he wouldn’t help.

Carla Sue Routt Arnett age 66 of Dripping Springs TX but formally of the Raymond and Springfield areas passed away in Dripping Springs on March 19, 2010.

 

She was born in Pekin, IL on June 1, 1943, the daughter of the late Carl Routt and Norma Vogel Routt of Raymond.

 

She had worked as a secretary for many at Fiat-Allis in Springfield.

 

She besides her mother, she is survived by a son Edward Arnett of Dripping Springs, TX,  2 sisters; Sharon Rowland of Farmersville, IL, and Paula Routt of Mt. Vernon and several nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:30am April 10, 2010  at A Community of Faith Church in Raymond.

Loeva Mae Hopper, 73, of Hillsboro died Friday, March 19, 2010 at 1:54 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Friends may call Sunday, March 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Skinner will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Born in Nokomis on May 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Nellie (Grimes) Rhoades. On July 4, 1953 she married Richard "Bob" Hopper and he preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1981.

She and her husband owned and operated Paris Frozen Foods in Hillsboro since its opening in 1959.

A member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, she had been a deacon and treasurer of her church. She was also a member of Hillsboro card clubs, farm bureau and home extension.

She is survived by one son, Allan (wife Pam) Hopper, Hillsboro; one daughter, Kathy (husband Bill) Trader, Hillsboro; a brother, Russell (wife Gerry) Rhoades, Hillsboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one due in July; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Louise M. Chausse, age 99, passed away at 12:33 am on March 11, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL. She was born in Johnson, MN on March 26, 1910 the daughter of Henry A. and Anna Wiegreffe Martin.

She graduated from Raymond Community High School in 1927. She continued her education by attended Blackburn College in Carlinville and in 1929 she graduated with an Associates Degree and in 1939 she graduated from the National College of Education in Evanston, IL with a Bachelors in Education.

 

In 1929 she began her teaching career at the Wares Grove Rural School, in 1936 took a job teaching 1st and 2nd grade at the Raymond Grade School, in 1963 she began teaching in Harvel until she retired in 1972.

 

In 1945 she married Veryl A. Chausse at her parents home in Butler Grove Twp. on Sep. 16, 1945, he preceded her on Nov. 4, 1990.

 

She was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Raymond were she taught Sunday School and belonged to the women’s group. She belonged to the Montgomery County Retired Teachers and the Raymond/Harvel Seniors group. 

 

She is survived by one nephew Martin Gaither of Gainesville, GA, a cousin Jean Wood of Litchfield, and a close friend Dr. Wendell Keeper of Carbondale. She was preceded by one brother Perry F. Martin.

 

Memorials may be left to the Panhandle Education Foundation or Doyle Public Library. 

 

Visitation will be held Sunday March 14 from 4-6pm at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Flory "Frog" Fudoli, 88, of Hillsboro died on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Hillsboro Area Hospital, Hillsboro.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Father Ted Schelich will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Friends may call Monday evening, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Schram City on Dec. 21, 1921, he was the son of the late James and Rosie Fudoli. He married Waneata Rufus on May 29, 1944 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2008.

A Hillsboro High School graduate with the class of 1940, he owned and operated Fudoli Real Estate and auction service for many years. He and his wife Waneata also owned Froggies Hop-In in Hillsboro.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro and was a lifetime member of Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377 and Hillsboro Knights of Columbus #4608. He was a loyal supporter of the Hillsboro Hiltoppers and attended all sporting events.

He is survived by a sister, Lena Thompson of Terre Haute, IN and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding him in death were four brothers, James, Joe, Steve and Mike Fudoli and two sisters, Josephine Zarr and Nellie McGaughey.

Lillie Marie Drobnack, 78, of Taylorville, died at 2:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond on Thursday, Feb. 4, with the Rev. Fr. James Bunse officiating. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Hough & Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Drobnack was born on Feb. 27, 1931, in Butler, a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Ida Christina (Durbin) Durbin.

She married Lawrence Drobnack on June 28, 1952, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1987.

Mrs. Drobnack worked as a waitress at the Moonlite Y in Hillsboro for 20 years. She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Christian County Quilt Guild, Taylorville Hospital Auxiliary Quilters, and a past member of the Ladies VFW in Litchfield.

 She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (husband Larry) Krager of Harvel and Sue (husband Chuck) Goodin of Hillsboro; a son, George Drobnack of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen Matli of Litchfield.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Maroney, Mary Matthews and Esther Burrow; five brothers, Howard, Anthony, Bert, Merle and Pat Durbin; and a grandson, Andrew Krager.

Aleen H. Muse, 90, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 9:45 a.m. in the Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Muse was born in Hoisington, KS, on May 18, 1919, the daughter of Jacob and Lena (Krug) Ochs. She married Jack D. H. Muse on Dec. 3, 1938, in St. Louis; he preceded her in death on May 19, 1998.

Her parents; one brother, Leland Ochs; and a sister, Eleanor Wilson, also preceded her.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra (husband Jim) Lanter of Hillsboro; one grandson, Jack W. (wife Mary) Mutchler; one granddaughter, Jeanine A. Zimmerman; six great-grandchildren, Justin, Mallory, and Remington Zimmerman and Logan, Jacob and Lydia Mutchler; one brother, Lorenz Ochs; and one sister, Elsie Williams.

A graduate of high school in Kansas, she was a past member of the Hillsboro Country Club and the Hillsboro Area Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to garden, to sew, and especially to play golf. A member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, she worked with her husband at Jack Muse Inc. Mechanical Contractors.

Alberta R. Martintoni, age, 91 of Farmersville, IL passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL on January 10, 2010 at 5:00am.

 

She was born in Pawnee, IL July 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Grant and Pearl Crowder Plummer.

 

She was a graduate of Ball Twp High School and Brown’s Business Collage.

 

She married Albert Jaeger on March 4, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1967.

On July 7, 1972 she married Roy F. Martintoni and he preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1999.

 

She was a homemaker, and had worked as Secretary at Ball Twp High School and later part time at the Farmersville  Post Office.

 

She is survived by 2 daughters Kathy (Larry) Wernsing of Raymond and Barbara (Denny) Cox of Taylorville. She is also survived by four Granddaughters Jessica (Joe) Chappelear of Hillsboro, Erin (Mitchell) Rosenthal of Ogden, Kirby (Justin) Orr of Maryville and Taylor Wernsing of Raymond and 1 great granddaughter Peyton Chappelear and a great grandson Logan Rosenthal.

 

She was preceded by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

 

She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmersville and the Mary Martha Guild.

 

Alberta was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 35 years.

He was born on October 20, 1974, the son of   William and Pamela Ridder Vickery of Raymond.

 

He married Heather Correll of Morrisonville on June 1, 2002 at the Community of Faith Church in Raymond.

 

Chris worked as a chef at several restaurants in the Raymond and Carlinville areas. He also enjoyed woodworking.

   

He is survived by his Wife and Mother and Father, all of Raymond , 4 sons  Christian, Dylan, Chase, and Jett Vickery all of Raymond. He is also survived by two brothers Michael (Jessica) Vickery of Litchfield and Daniel Vickery of Raymond. He is survived by his Grand Parents Mary and Douglas Vickery of Raymond.

Darrell E. Benning age 65 of Raymond, IL passed away at 5:59 am on December 13, 2009 at his home.

 

He was born on May 12, 1944 in Hillsboro, IL, the son of Frank William and Edna Emma Nora Keiser Benning.

 

He married Martha “Marti” Miller on Aug. 3, 1968 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel

 

Darrell was a farmer and had also been employed by the Montgomery County Health Dept be fore he retired.

 

Darrell was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel and had served as past Pres. Of the Montgomery County Fair board, was a member of the Shoal Creek ABATE, the Montgomery County 4-H foundation, the Midstate Tractor Club and the Hilltop Coin Club. He also served as a Hillsboro Aux. Police.

  

He is survived by his Wife and Mother, both of Raymond , sons Nathan Benning of Taylor Springs and Kevin Benning of Springfield, IL two daughters Shannon (Tom) Durbin of Irving and Katie (Cory) Meyer of Harvel. He was the Grandfather of  Khyrsty, Devan, Alex, Emily, Lynsie, Gabe, Jakob, Abby, Rylee, and Hailey. He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Wathern of Raymond.

Besides his Father he was preceded in death by a sister Wilma Korunka

He was a graduate of Lincolnwood High School class of 1989 and graduated from Rankin Tech School with honors in 2005 with a degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology.  

He was employed by Pioneer Hi-Bred International at the Litchfield Plant.   

 

 

He was a member of the Moose in Litchfield.

 

He is survived by his Wife and Mother both of Waggoner , a daughter, Kourtnie, and son, Daultyn Gudgel, both still at home; a brother Gary (Becky) of Litchfield; three sisters ,Linda (Jim) McGinnis of FL, Lois Crain of Waggoner, Laura (Roy) Farrar of Waggoner.  He is also survived by several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

She was born on June 25, 1921 in Auburn IL, the of the late Henry and Theresa Smith Boyd.

 

Harold Johnson, her first husband, preceded her in death. On August 5, 1956, she married Ralph Peters in Pana, IL.

 

Dolores loved to dance, read and travel. With her husband Ralph, traveled to all 50 states and visited at least 25 different countries.

She leaves behind her husband Ralph, children Karen Johnson-Shoup of Atlanta, GA, Lynn (Charleen) Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kirby (Joyce) Peters, of Farmersville, IL and Susan (Bill) Arter, of Decatur, IL.

 

She is the proud Grandmother of Tom (Sarah) Shoup, and Jeff (Kim) Shoup both of Atlanta, GA, Eric (Heather) Johnson, of Arlington, VA and Andrea (Steve) McGrath of Atlanta, GA and 5 Great Grandchildren.

 

She is survived by a brother Jim Boyd, of Decatur, IL.

 

She is preceded by two brothers Henry Boyd and Bob Boyd.

Sherry Susan Pfeifer, 54, of Witt died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pfeifer are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Hough & Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Jeff Hemken will officiate, with burial in rural Coffeen. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 6 until 8 at Hough & Son's.

Mrs. Pfeifer was born in Hillsboro on Thursday, Feb. 24, 1955, to Rolin and Pearl (Beal) Robinson. She married Harold Pfeifer on April 21, 1981, in Hillsboro, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jason Pfeifer of Irving and J.J. (wife Karel Pugh) Sanchez of Coffeen; three daughters, Cindy Sanchez of Donnellson, Misty Pfeifer of Hillsboro, and Heather Taylor of Irving; nine grandchildren; four sisters; and six brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sharon Robinson; and one granddaughter, Cheyenne Fields.

Mrs. Pfeifer worked as a CNA at area nursing homes including in Witt and Taylor Springs. She had also worked in food service and in area factories.

An energetic and lively person who had a heart for people in need, she was involved in veterans' services and the V.F.W. A six-gallon blood donor and a staunch supporter of organ donation she was involved in volunteer work. She was a member of the Central Fork Baptist Church in Kentucky.

Glenn E. Boehler age 79 of Raymond passed away at his home at 12:20 pm on November 10, 2009.

 

 

He was born on January 20, 1930 in Raymond, the son of the late Earl Nicholas and Evah May Fite Boehler.

 

He was a graduate of Raymond Hi Class of 1948. He also served in the US Army as a Radio Man from 1951 until 1953.

 

He was parts manager at Bandy Chevrolet Company in Raymond for 25 years before retiring.

 

His 1st marriage to Yvonne Byrant  ended in divorce and in 1992 he married Phyllis Roberta Hickerson in Litchfield and she survives him.

 

He is survived by 3 sons Gerry (Sue) Boehler of Camp Point, IL, Jody (Jayne) Boehler of Parkville, MO, and Sam (Lori) Boehler of Hawaii and 3 daughters Rena “Tinker” Boehler of Springfield, IL, Cara (Frank) Hill of Ashland, IL and Judy (Dave) Rikas of Auburn, IL  and a stepson Mike (Gayle) Higginson of Girard. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren,  3 great grandchildren a brother Charles William (Helen) Boehler of Litchfield, and a sister Wanda (Steve) Miller of Raymond, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday November 12th from 4-7pm at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Timothy Vincent "Tim" Meyers, 38, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 6:15 p.m. at his residence.

Born Aug. 27, 1971, at Honolulu, HI, he was a son of Larry and Patty (Guinn) Meyers of Hillsboro. He was married to Lisa Vohsen.

Mr. Meyers was a 1989 Hillsboro High School graduate and a member of the labor local 1084. A member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, he attended Open Arms Fellowship in Irving. He had served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked as a floor mechanic at Sievers Equipment at Hamel and Wehrle Brothers Equipment at Vandalia.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Taylor Meyers of Hillsboro; his parents; two sisters, Jenny Leetham and Sarah Odle of Hillsboro; two brothers, Justin Meyers and Matt Meyers of Hillsboro; and three grandmothers, Rosemary Meyers of Hillsboro, Verna Shuck of Centralia, MO, and Mary Guinn of Litchfield.

Pam Wentzel, age 54 of Raymond passed away on Oct. 31, 2009 at her home.

She was born in Peoria on Mar. 3, 1955, the daughter of the Late Harvey Caho and Mary Henline Caho still living in Peoria.

 

She married Phil Wentzel May 12 1988 in St. Louis.

She was a homemaker and had worked for Journal Publications. She had in the past volunteered as a EMT for the Raymond-Harvel Ambulance service.  She was also known as being the “Best” Motocross Mom in the District 17 Motocross.

She attended courses LLCC.

 

Besides her Husband and Mother she is survived by son Alex Wentzel of Raymond,  daughter Angie (Chris) Wenke of Belleville, IL, daughter Danielle (Marcus) Eickenhorst of West County St. Louis, son James (Beth) Sperry of Lebanon, IL and son Doug (Deah) Wentzel of Springfield.  She is also survived by brothers Tom (Kay) Caho of Port Byron, IL and Chuck (Jan) Caho of Bloomington, IL, She was the grandmother of   Kaitlin, Victoria, Jackson, Cole and Hannah.

She also is survived by by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.  She was preceded by one brother Michael Caho.

James Leonard (Jim) Beiermann, age 80 of Litchfield, passed away  at 2:25pm Friday October 30th at Nokomis Rehab and Health Care in Nokomis, Il.

He was born in Waggoner, IL on Dec. 5, 1928, the son of the late Leonard W. and Hazel (Brown) Beiermann.

 

He married Betty Davis on Nov. 26, 1949, she preceded him on Aug 7, 1999.

 

He owned and operated Beiermann T.V. and Repair in Litchfield from 1950-2007.

 

He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Litchfield, IL. He was a graduate of Waggoner High School. He was a member of the Litchfield Knights of Columbus and the Litchfield Moose.

He is survived by brothers, Howard “Wimp” Beiermann of Harvel, Raymee (Joyce) Beiermann of Raymond, Bernard “Pete” Beiermann of Raymond, Richard “Dick” (Charleen) Beiermann of Raymond, Jerry (Mary) Beiermann of Conesus, NY, sisters Ruth Ann (John) Gaither of Taylorville, IL, Barb (AL) Tomek, Ocala, FL.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by a son James Brett Beiermann in 2007 and a brother Don Beiermann and two sisters Mariam Hill and Loraine “Toots” Amolsch.

 

Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish in Litchfield on Wed. Nov. 4th at 10:00am. Fr. James Neuman will be officiating.

Burial will be at Cedar Ridge in Honey Bend.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8pm at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro and 9-10am at the Church on Wed. be fore the service.

Michael P. Rovey, age 28 of Farmersville, IL

 

Michael P. Rovey, age 28 of Farmersville, IL, passed away on Oct. 30, 2009 at 4:46pm at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born June 21, 1981 in Litchfield, IL. He was the son of Herman H. Rovey of Farmersville and Cathy (Milo) Davidson Price of Sawyerville, IL.  He worked on his family farm in Farmersville.  Michael enjoyed raising and caring for animals, photography, and traveling.

 

Besides his parents he is survived by a sister Cindy (Eldon) Hemken of Gillespie,  IL, a sister Angel (Danny) Floranoy of  Gillespie, IL, a brother Daniel Rovey of Farmersville, IL, a brother Jerry Price of Sawyerville, IL, a brother Kerry (Chelsea) Price of Benld, Il, and a sister Tabatha (John) Newkirk of Newton, IL. He is also survived by his Grandmother Roberta Rovey of Farmersville, IL, a Niece and 4 Nephews.  He was preceded by his grand parents Jim and Joann Davidson and Melvin Rovey.

 

Visitation will be held Monday Nov. 2, 2009 from 5-8  and on Tuesday Nov. 3, 2009 from 9-10 am at Hough Funeral Home in Farmersville .

Mikey Wilson, age 30

 

 

Michael “Mikey” Paul Wilson age 30 of Raymond, IL died at 2:40 am on Oct. 18, 2009 in Raymond Twp as a result of an automobile accident.

 

He was born on Aug. 3, 1979 in Hillsboro, IL, the son of Bonnie Wilson of Raymond.

 

He had been employed by Tate & Lyle in Decatur, IL for the last 3 yrs as an Operator.  He was a member of the United Steelworks Workers.

 

Mikey enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, working on cars and trucks, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

 

He is survived by his fiancé Ashley Millburg of Harvel, a brother Andrew Wilson of Raymond Grandmother Patricia Wilson of Raymond, He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles  and Cousins.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday  Oct 21, 2009 from 4-8pm at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Mary M. Whalen, age 67 of Raymond passed away Monday October 5, 2009 at St.John’s Hospice in Springfield.

She was born on July 25, 1942 in Litchfield, the daughter of late William Irl and Helen Marie (Lyons) Whalen.

She was a member of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond where she also belonged to the C.C.W group. She was a member of T.O.P.S Club Inc. of Litchfield and the Home Arts Club of Raymond,

She is survived by a brother Jim Whalen of Farmersville,  3 nephews,  Brad (Chrissy DeWerff) Whalen of Fort Myers, FL, Bill Whalen of Bonita Springs, FL and Aaron (LeeAnne) Whalen of Lafayette, IN and Great Nephew Rylan Whalen of Lafayette, IN and one Aunt Sally Lyons of Raymond and several  Cousins.

Mary Virginia (Wood) Haarstick,  Age 86

 

Mary Virginia Haarstick, age 86 of Raymond passed away Monday September 28 at the home of her daughter in Waggoner.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1923 in Litchfield, the daughter of late Thomas LeRoy and Mary Virginia (Goodwin) Wood.

She Graduated from Waggoner High School in 1941.

She was a homemaker. She married Charles Haarstick at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond on Sept. 9, 1950,  He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2004.

She is survived by a Son Joseph P. (Cheryl Ann) Haarstick of Raymond, daughter Victoria Ann (Kenneth) Holzhausen of Waggoner, daughter Theresa Lynn (Herbert) Shepherd of Litchfield, a sister, Patricia Miller of Broken Arrow, OK 12 Grand Children and 7 Great grand.

Eugene W. Craver, 69

Eugene Wilson Craver, 69, of Litchfield, died at 5:03 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Heritage Manor, Litchfield.

The Rev. Jonathan Bontke will officiate at the 2 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Litchfield.

Mr. Craver was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Gardner, son of Fern (Johnson) Craver and the late Sidney Craver. He was employed as a security guard at Echlin and Dana Brake Parts in Litchfield. He also worked for Brubaker Moters in Litchfield and as security for the State of Illinois.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, where memorials may be directed. He was a member of the Auxiliary Police and Civil Defense in Springfield and a past member of the Jaycees. He enjoyed scuba diving, camping and fishing. He was an active Scout leader and coached elementary basketball.

Mr. Craver leaves his mother in Litchfield.

Leahan-Turner, Marilyn age 59

 

Marilyn E. Leahan Turner age 59 of Farmersville, passed away Monday morning  at 5:51 September 7, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She was born Feb. 19, 1950, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Eileen Davis Leahan.  She retired from the State of Illinois where she had work as a Secretary for the Director of McFarlen Zone Center. For many years Marilyn was very active in the day to day operation of her family’s farm.

She married Bill Turner on Feb 26, 1993 in Las Vegas and he survives.

 

She is survived by her 5 step children Shawn Conwell of Kansas City, Mo, Brian Turner of Herrin, IL, Teri Schaubert of Goreville, IL, Nathan Turner of Miami, FL, Sarah Jensen of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by a granddaughter Paige Turner of Litchfield, IL  She is survived by one Aunt Carmen Davis of Morrisonville a Cousins Charlie, Chelsea, and Carlie Davis of Morrisonville, IL

 

She enjoyed the company of  her 3 dogs; Rusty, Sophie and Sydney.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, from 5-7pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville.

 

Funeral Mass will be held Friday September 11 at 10:00am also at the church.

David "Rick" Hughes, III, 42 of Irving died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at 6:12 p.m. at Springfield.

Funeral services at Hough & Son's Funeral Home will be on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. Pastor Gary Stanford will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Hough's.

Mr. Hughes was born in St. Louis, MO, on April 30, 1967, to David Richard Hughes II, now of Chatham, and Helen L. (Crow) Hughes, now of Springfield. They survive, as does his wife, Patricia (Chesser) Hughes; they were married in Springfield on April 14, 2000. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phil and Margaret Chesser of Hillsboro.

A 1984 graduate of Springfield Lanphier High School, he received certification in heating and air conditioning from Lincoln Land Community College and had owned All Seasons Heating and Cooling since 2003.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard L. Hughes of Springfield and Connor Hughes of Irving; one daughter, Mackinze Hughes of Springfield; a stepson, Adam (wife Tami) White of Greenfield; a stepdaughter, April (husband Chris) Dowland of Greenfield; a sister, Rhonda Hughes of Chillicothe; a half-brother, Aaron Hughes of Chatham; stepgrandchildren Paige and Dom White of Greenfield and Jesse Dowland of Greenfield; a niece, Kyla Peake of Chillicothe; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Vernon R. Washburn, 92

Vernon Richmond Washburn, 92, of Hillsboro, a well-known participant in the Hillsboro Old Settlers Association and celebration for many years, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care.

The Rev. Diane Bigley will officiate at funeral services on Monday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro, where memorials may be directed. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, and at the church Monday one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Washburn, a 1936 graduate of Litchfield High School, was born May 20, 1917, in Hillsboro, son of the late William and Vera (Traylor) Washburn. His stepfather, Adison Tinsman, raised him from the age of 4.

He earned a four-year degree from LaSalle University in Chicago and was an accountant and business manager at Eagle Picher Industries in Hillsboro for 40 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro for 77 years and held various offices in the church, including treasurer of the building fund and Sunday School teacher.

Mr. Washburn was not only a 25-year member and past president of the Old Settlers Association in Hillsboro, he had also been inducted into the Old Settlers Honor Society. He had coached boys baseball and girls softball and was a member and past president of the Hillsboro Kiwanis.

On Sept. 15, 1940, he and Irene Green married at the Christian Church in St. Louis, and she survives.

Mr. Washburn leaves a daughter, Patsy (husband Nick) Bourdoumis of Hillsboro; granddaughter, Cathy (husband Bruce) Gabeau of Hillsboro; grandson, Andy (wife Maia) Bourdoumis of Houston, TX; and four great-grandchildren, Nicole Gabeau of Springfield, Courtney Gabeau of Hillsboro, and Nick Bourdoumis and Zoe Bourdoumis of Houston.

Also surviving are siblings, Delores (husband Bill) Rogers and Alan Tinsman of Litchfield, and Mary Law of Leonardtown, MD. His extended family included Albert and Kay Walters, Rachael Walters Warfel, Damon Walters and Robin Walters Meyer and their families. Several nieces and nephews survive, including one special niece, Vera Jean Molar of Leonardtown, MD.

Preceding him in death were a brother, William Washburn, and sisters Dorothy (husband William) Bates, Marjorie Vincent and Edith Devore.

Lynwood "Lyn" Charles DeLong, 64, of Litchfield, died at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Litchfield HealthCare Center.

Born in Reading, PA, on Feb. 4, 1945, he was the son of the late Charles Morris and Ina Ruth (Pfeifly) DeLong.

Mr. DeLong worked as a truck body welder at Reading Body Works in Reading, PA, and at LaRomas Pizza in Norristown, PA, for over 17 years.

He is survived by two brothers, Iral Mark (wife Dorothy) DeLong of Litchfield, and Leonard (wife Roseann) DeLong of Miami, FL; two sisters, Kathleen Mitchell of Colombia, TN, and Susan Smith of Litchfield; a son, Michael DeLong of Norristown, PA, and three grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Jody L. Abzug, and two brothers, Michael and Lawrence DeLong.

Marla Rose Settle, 43, of Irving died at 12:19 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, July 16, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. The Rev. Ronald Rhodus and the Rev. Jeff Hemken will officiate. Burial will be held at Irving Cemetery.

The daughter of Ellen (Compton) Brown and the late Harold Edward, she was born on March 9, 1966, in Hillsboro. She was a member of the Hillsboro High School Class of 1984.

She married Russell Settle on June 14, 1992, and he survives. Mrs. Settle worked as a data input operator for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Springfield and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

She is survived by a daughter, Morgan Settle of Irving; two stepsons, Brent (wife Marissa) Settle of Las Vegas and Danny (wife Sayna) Settle of Hampton, VA; a sister, Marcia (husband Dwight) Pray of Harrisburg; a brother, Mark (wife Roxie) Brown of Witt; two stepsisters, Shirley (husband Mick) Korunka of Mt. Olive and Donna Mosser of Litchfield; two stepbrothers, Steven (wife Sherian) Snyder of Mt. Olive and Richard Snyder; and three stepgranchildren.

Donald R. Caudle, 56

Donald Caudle, 56, of Litchfield died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Caudle will be on Tuesday, June 16, at 10 a.m. in the Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville. Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be held tonight, Monday, June 15 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hough's.

Mr. Caudle was born on Dec. 10, 1952, in Peoria to Claude and Pearl Caudle, Jr. He and Nora Jane Higgins were married on Nov. 7, 1970, in Missouri, and she survives.

Also surviving are his mother in Girard; two daughters, Jennie Wesbrook of Litchfield and Jenia Morrison of Waggoner; four grandsons, Daryc and Dylan Morrison of Waggoner and Shawn Wesbrook and Scott Boerckel, Jr., of Litchfield; three brothers, Gene Caudle of Springfield and Leroy and Glenn Caudle of Farmersville; two sisters, Becky of Farmersville and Brenda Crays of Girard; and two Marine Corps brothers, Frank Staley of Waggoner and Ed McBane of Guthrie, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Cody Wesbrook.

A welder and a roofer, he was a Lance Corporal in the Marines from 1970 until 1973. He was a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge 1634, and VFW Post 3912 in Litchfield. He served that group as a Commander and a Quartermaster.

Geraldine T. Marcolini, 88

Geraldine T. Kelmel McKinnie Marcolini, 88, of Hillsboro, died at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Hillsboro, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Cemetery, Morrisonville.

A prayer service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Visitation will follow from 4-7 p.m.

Born in Morrisonville on Tuesday, April 19, 1921, Mrs. Marcolini was the daughter of the late William and Cecelia (Millburg) Kelmel.

She married Cecil McKinnie of Morrisonville on April 10, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1973. She married Andrew Marcolini on June 8, 1994, in Taylorville and he survives.

Mrs. Marcolini worked as a clerk at Summer's, a clothing store in Taylorville, for 17 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, VFW Women's Auxiliary in Taylorville, Hillsboro Area Hospital Auxiliary, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters of Morrisonville.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mary Fuchs of Butler; a stepson, Randall Carl Marcolini of Springfield; stepdaughters Karen Brookfield of San Diego, CA, and Beth Ann Paris, Springfield; and two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and first husband, were a son, John Robert McKinnie, on Oct. 10, 1959; a brother, Harold Kelmel; and two sisters, Lucille Finch and Mary Catherine Kelmel in infancy in 1917.

Scott A. King, 50, of Litchfield, died at 9:42 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at his residence.

He was born June 4, 1958, at Litchfield, son of Norma Mae (Kelly) King and the late Charles W. King. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1976 and was a member of the Christian Church of Litchfield. He was employed at Echlin Brake Parts and Affinia Group at Litchfield for over 25 years.

Mr. King was a member of the Litchfield VFW 3912 Men's Auxiliary Color Guard. He enjoyed golf, fishing and karaoke.

He leaves three brothers, Norman (wife Pam) Spencer, Charles King, Jr. and David King; three sisters, Cheryl Robinson, Jenny King and Dorothy (husband Dennis) Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Also surviving are stepbrothers, Robert (wife Shirley) Beechler, James, Ronald, Carl, Vernon and Rickey Beechler; stepsisters, Mary (husband Raydean) Thompson, Marylin (husband Donald) Harbison, Marlana (husband Kelly) Swanson and Diane (husband Roger) Pollard.

Preceding Mr. King in death were his stepmother, Elda King, and stepbrother, John Beechler.

Robert L. "Bob" Smith, Sr., 77

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Robert L. "Bob" Smith, Sr., 77, of Texas but formerly of Butler. The Hough & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith died at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in Texas.

He was born in Springfield on Jan. 16, 1932, to John and Kay (Benish) Smith. He and Mary Cable were married in September, 1957, and she survives.

Also surviving are seven sons, Robert (wife Laura) Smith, Jr., of Butler, Bobby W. (wife Betty) Smith and Larry (wife Angie) Smith, all of Litchfield, Jeff Smith and Jack Smith, both of Vandalia, Scott Smith of Hillsboro, and Gregory Smith of Houston, TX; three daughters, Brenda Greenwood of Litchfield, Rhonda Smith of Houston, TX, and Ginger Ballhurst of Hillsboro; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sherrie Smith.

A Virden High School graduate, he was a truck driver. He farmed while in the Butler area. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Mark A. Benson, 54 of Springfield formally of Hillsboro passed away June 2, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born the son of the late Gordon and Winifred Swank Benson on Nov. 5 1954 in Kankakee, IL.

Mark had been a  Hillsboro Fireman and dispatcher for the City of Hillsboro and for the last 19yrs had worked for the Illinois Secretary of State. 

 

Mark was a Wilk’s Warrior until the end and avid fan of NHRA Drag Racing. In the past Big Mark had worked as Crew Member for Tim Wilkerson’s Funny Car Team and also on Daniel Wilkerson’s Team helping both win Divisional and National Championships.

He is survived by  a sister Margo Benson of Franklin, TN and a sister Rosemary (Kent) Tuetken of Hillsboro and one brother Jeff (Nancy) Benson of Greenville, IL. He is also survived by 9 Nieces and Nephews and 7 Great Nieces and Nephews. 

Besides his parents he was preceded by a sister LuAnn Hiller in 2004

 

Services will be held on June  4, 2009 at 11:00am at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on June 3 and also  one hour before the services.

 

Burial will be in Ware’s Grove Cemetery in Butler.

Chris Herman Bruntjen, Jr. of Walshville passed away May 23, 2009 at his home.

He born Rocky Lee Dewitt on July 21, 1957 to the late Clearance and Lucille Dewitt. He was the youngest of 17 children. His mother died when he was a young child and was then adopted by the late Chris and Louise Polston Bruntjen.

 

His first marriage in 1976 to Janice Jones, ended in divorce. On June 19, 1987 he married Deanna Hemken and she survives.

 

He is survived by a son Chris H. Bruntjen III and his fiancé Amie Dever of Litchfield and daughter Tish (Cavin) Schmedeke of Litchfield, Step-son Kevin Hemken of Litchfield and step daughter Jamie Hemken and companion Jason Blevins. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Chyanne and Emma Bruntjen and Tiffany Melton, Kaiden and Emily Blevins all of Litchfield

 

Services will be held on May 30, 2009 at 10:00am at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Visitation will be held one hour before the services.

 

Pastor Steven Revisky will be officiating.

Mary Lynn Mizera, 47 of Raymond went to our heavenly Father  at 6:35am on May 20, 2009 in Springfield at St. John’s Hospital. She passed peacefully with her husband Tim and their  family at her side  During the last five years she courageously battled kidney cancer never giving up hope.  She was born June 17, 1961 the daughter of Charles and  Marilyn ( Altmix) Beding of Quincy, IL

 

She married Timothy J. Mizera of Raymond on Nov. 5, 1988 at the St. Raymond’s Catholic       Church in  Raymond, they were married by Fr. Morelock and Fr. Houran              

 

 

She worked as a Social Security Insurance Adjudicator for the State of Illinois for the last three years.  Prior to that she worked in the Medical Records Dept. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

 

She is survived by her husband Tim , a son Christian  and a daughter Hailey both still at home in Raymond. She is also survived by brother Rick  Beding of Quincy, a sister  Lauri (Merlin) Eisenberg of Quincy. She is survived by her Aunt Doris Buss,  5 nieces and 4 nephews.  She is also survived by her mother and father- in -law  Joe and Mary Agnes Mizera of Raymond. 

 

She was preceded by one Uncle Paul Beding

 

She was a member of St. Raymond’s Church in Raymond.

 

Memorials maybe sent to the 1st National Bank of Raymond For the Mizera Children’s Education Fund.

 

Visitation 4-7pm on May 25, 2009  at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond

Murl R. Waldeck 90 of Farmersville passed away at 6:50pm on May 19, 2009 in Nokomis at Nokomis Rehab and Health Care.  She was born July 24, 1918, the daughter of the late Porter and Catherine (Marten) Waldeck.

 

She worked as a claims clerk at Horace Mann Ins. for 16yrs.

 

She was a member of the Waggoner Christian Church in Waggoner.

 

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers Perry, Wayne, Kermit, and Harold and one sister Jessie Hague.

 

Memorials to the Farmersville/Waggoner Ambulance.

 

Services will be held on Friday May 22 at 2:00pm at Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville, Friends may call 1 hour before the service

John Michaelis, 63

John Michaelis, 63, of Hillsboro, caretaker at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro for 30 years, died at 2:56 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, the Rev. Randy Sands officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Michaelis was born May 23, 1945, at Carlinville, son of the late John Claus and Edna Pearl (Turner) Michaelis. In addition to being a caretaker, he dug graves and did monument foundations for many cemeteries in the surrounding counties.

He married Lillian Maxine Everett on Jan. 6, 1969, and she survives.

Also surviving are children, John Henry (wife Annamarie) Michaelis of Taylor Springs, James Roger (wife Jill) Michaelis and Scott Lee Michaelis of Hillsboro, and Vicki Lynn Michaelis of Coffeen; grandchildren, Chad Allan Michaelis, Austin Derek Michaelis, Tiffany Amber Michaelis and Matthew Henry Michaelis.

Mr. Michaelis leaves 12 brothers and sisters, Marguerite "Ellen" (husband Melvin) Miller of Atwater; Harriet (husband Edward) Scroggins of Bunker Hill; Edward Michaelis, Jerry (wife JoAnn) Michaelis, David Michaelis, Evelyn "Essie" (husband Jim) McLaughlin, Harry (wife Michele) Michaelis and Frederick Michaelis, all of Carlinville; Marilyn Hartsook of Decatur; Pamela Hoskamer of Urbana; Perry (wife Leona) Michaelis of Caddo, OK; and Dr. Dorothy "LaZelle" Michaelis (companion Bill Thompson) of Duluth, MN.

Preceding him in death wa a sister, Sherilyn Kay Michaelis.

Vivian H. Gibbs, 90

Vivian Helen Gibbs, 90, of Godfrey, died at 6:42 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Robings Manor Nursing Home in Brighton.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. A private family burial will be held at Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon.

Mrs. Gibbs was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Litchfield, daughter of the late John Lakeman and Flora (Callahan) Easterly. She was employed at Brown Shoe Factory in Litchfield and was also a homemaker. She was an avid card player.

She and Charles W. Gibbs married July 30, 1949, at Indianapolis, IN. He preceded her in death, as did three brothers, John, Earl, and Vernon Easterly, and sisters, Gertrude Roach, Inez McNeill, Evelyn Voyles and her twin sister, Lillian Brawley.

Mrs. Gibbs leaves two sons, Harley (wife Joyce) Carroll of Godfrey and John (wife Karen) Gibbs of Fishers, IN; six grandchildren; and a brother, Ellsworth Easterly of Litchfield.

Eva D. Salsi, 88

 

 Eva D. Salsi, 88, of Hillsboro, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Care.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Cress Hill Cemetery, the Rev. Harry Meyer officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

Mrs. Salsi was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Hillsboro, daughter of the late Orville and Murl (Sarver) Johnson. She was a dietician at Hillsboro Area Hospital and a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Hillsboro.

She married Moses Salsi on Dec. 13, 1941, and he died in June 1984.

Mrs. Salsi leaves one daughter, Linda Harris of Hillsboro; one grandson, Miles Harris of Hillsboro; and one sister, Dorla D. King of Cahokia.

One brother, Earl R. Johnson, preceded her in death.

Park M. Fellers, 89

Well-known Hillsboro resident Park M. Fellers, 89, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Services for Mr. Fellers will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, the Rev. Diane Bigley officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Fellers, an Army veteran of World War II, was born July 6, 1919, in Tower Hill, son of the late Forrest and Dora (Dow) Fellers. He graduated from Tower Hill High School in 1936 and earned his bachelor's degree at Eastern Illinois University. He graduated from Indiana University with a master's degree.

He was a teacher in St. Elmo, Oakland and Hillsboro high schools. He began selling life insurance for New York Life Insurance Co. in 1953. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro and past president of the Alumni Association at EIU. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Kershaw Hammer Post 1306 in Taylor Springs. He was a 50-year member of the Hillsboro Lions Club.

Mr. Fellers married Viola Frisbie on Aug. 17, 1946, at Mattoon, and she survives.

He leaves one son, Fred (wife Linda) Fellers of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Mickie Fellers of Hillsboro; two brothers, Forrest "Frosty" Jr. (wife Pat) Fellers of Seal Beach, CA, and William "Bill"(wife Joyce) Fellers of Seal Beach, CA, and Sun City West, AZ; one sister, Lois (husband John) Killam of Lancaster, CA; one stepbrother, John (wife Betty) McCorkle of Branson, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were three sisters, Blanche and Fern Fellers and Irma Richardson.

Lori Barrington Kirby, 50

 

Lori Barrington Kirby age 50 of Raymond passed away on May 11, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She was born the daughter of Carrol Gene and Ellalie Ann Van Dyke Wilkins in Berkley, CA on Sep. 14, 1958, and they survive.

She obtained her A.A.S. degree by taking night courses and had served in the Military.

She was employed by Cingular in Springfield for a number of years. She had in the past been a partner in Johnny Bs Tavern in Raymond.

She 1st married Johnny Barrington Mar. 17, 1979 in  Los Alamedas, CA

She most recently had married Jim Kirby on Oct. 24, 2008. 

She is survived by husband Jim and son Kristoffer VanDyke Barrington of Raymond and daughter Brandi Lee (Jesse) Barrington-Hopper of Illiopolis. She is survived by a brother Jim Wilkins on Anaheim Hills, CA and a sister Julie Sticht of Cypress, CA and 5 grandchildren.

 

She enjoyed  cooking, knitting, scrap booking, and working in the garden, She was an avid reader and, most of all she cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She always made the most out of life wanting others to be able to do the same she gave the gift of life to eight others by being an organ donor.   

 

Visitation will be held Thursday May 14th from 4-8 at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond

Merle Lawrence Herpstreith, 76, of Butler died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Butler.
Funeral services for Mr. Herpstreith will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at Hough & Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Father James Neuman will officiate, and burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield. Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Hough's.

Mr. Herpstreith was born on Sept. 9, 1932, in Christian County to Louis and Grace (McCurdy) Herpstreith. After a marriage to Patricia Durbin, he and Nancy Allen were married on Feb. 2, 1980, and she survives.

Also surviving are his sons, Richard Herpstreith of Witt, Kevin (wife Patty) Herpstreith of Nokomis, Robert Herpstreith of Taylorville, James (wife Sharon) Herpstreith of Witt and Charles (wife Cindy) Herpstreith of Taylorville; two daughters, Susan Shears of Taylorville and Katrina (husband Rex) Boliard of Fillmore; three stepdaughters, Denise (husband Rodger) Buske, of Benld, Rebecca Savage of St. Charles, MO, and Nancy Anderson of Witt; one stepson, David Anderson of Irving; 17 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irma J. Baurle of Nokomis and Lula Mae Clark of Coffeen, and one brother, Charles Herpstreith of Morrisonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Gary Herpstreith; one stepson, Douglas Anderson; one granddaughter, Bobbie Jean Herpstreith; two brothers, Alvin and Bernard Herpstreith, and one sister, Juanita Whitten.

A 1950 graduate of Nokomis High School, he was a member of the UMWA.

Herbert Steven Giller, 49, of Greenville, died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Giller was born Nov. 21, 1959, in Litchfield, son of Lila (Boothe) Giller and the late Herbert Giller. He was a member of County Line Family Church, Donnellson.

He married Brenda Vollintine, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Stevie L. (husband David) Tallman of Donnellson; a son, Randle H. (wife Sarey Pryor) Giller of Coffeen; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Izzie Vail, Joan Giller and Darlene Giller; and one brother, John S. Giller.

One daughter-in-law, Kristi Giller, preceded him in death.

Daniel Thomas Harris, 60

Daniel Thomas Harris, 60, of Hillsboro passed away at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Hillsboro on Wednesday, July 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles and Josephine M. (Hudelson) Harris.

He worked at Central Management Services in Springfield for 15 years and then for the Illinois State Commerce Commission.

He was a member of West Side Christian Church, Springfield. He was also a member of the Christian Church Bell Choir. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Charles (wife, Carol) Harris; sister, Jane (husband, Tom) Wiley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at Hough and Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, with Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at Hough and Son's Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, Illinois.

Floyd G. Scheifer, 84

Floyd G. Scheifer, 84, of Witt died at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Hough & Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Richard Small officiating. Burial will be at Irving Cemetery.

Mr. Scheifer was born on April 3, 1925, in Edwardsville, the son of the late Jacob and Adella (Gruenig) Scheifer.

He married Dorothy Eddington on March 16, 1946, on P.R. Baker Farms, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2008.

Mr. Scheifer served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from 1944-46 and spent much of this time in the European theater. He was a member of the Irving United Methodist Church, Waples Bauer American Legion 94 of Nokomis, the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, and was a lifelong farmer.

Mr. Scheifer is survived by a daughter, Judy (husband Dale) Probst of Fillmore; three sons, Terry Dean (wife Rhonda) Scheifer of Witt, Floyd Dennis (wife Bonnie Sue) Scheifer of Irving, Ronald (wife Margaret) Scheifer of Hillsboro; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchil-dren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye, in infancy; three brothers, Gene, Lester, and Oliver Scheifer; five sisters, Gladys Willman, Buelah Winters, Virginia Bentley, Edna Jahnke, and Betty Hall; and two half brothers, Emmit and Melvin Short.

Emma Louisa Pandolfi, 101

Emma Louisa Pandolfi age 101 of  St. Simon Island, GA, but formally of  Gillespie and Homewood, IL passed away on April 4, 2009 at Magnolia Manor in St. Simon Island, GA.

She was born in Gillespie on Dec. 21, 1907, the daughter of the late Thomas Evans and Mary (Barrett) Elliman.

Emma Married Dominic Pandolfi in Chicago, IL on Aug. 26, 1933, He preceded her in death.
She was of Episcopal faith

She began teaching at the age of 16 and later obtained her Masters degree to became a Psychiatric Social Worker within the Chicago area Schools. 

She is survived by a daughter Sylvia Maria Pandolfi of Mexico City, Mexico, son Paul (Nancy) Pandolfi of St. Simon Island, GA,  Anita Louise Pandolfi of Nashville, TN, a sister Mildred Bach of Dayton, OH and 3 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm at Ware’s Grove Cemetery in Butler
with Fr. John Bettmann pastor of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlinville.

John Richard Sharp, 83

John Richard Sharp, 83, of New Berlin, but formerly of Barnett, died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Born in Chatham on Nov. 24, 1925, Mr. Sharp was the son of the late George Thomas and Viola (Howard) Sharp.

He married Dorothy Utterback on Dec. 15, 1944, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1991.

During World War II, Mr. Sharp served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class.

He is survived by a daughter, Candy (husband Jerry) Horn of Springfield; a son, John (wife Margaret) Sharp of Hillsboro; two brothers, Thomas (wife Mildred) Sharp of Springfield and Gene (wife Marie) Sharp of Auburn; three grandchildren, Jonnalin Sharp of Carlinville, John L. Sharp of Taylor Springs, and Jerica Lowe of Chatham; and two great-grandchildren, Jayde and Chad Sharp.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Victoria DeBartolo, Marie Carus, and Charlotte Eddington.

Everett Eugene Odle, 83, of Hillsboro, died on March 27, 2009, at his sister's home.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Born on Oct. 11, 1925, in Taylorville, Mr. Odle was the son of the late Charlie and Arrietta (Weaver) Odle. He was raised in Litchfield.

He lived in Lake in the Hills with his wife, Irene (Parnell) for 54 years until her death in 2002.

A veteran of the 5th Marine Division in the Battle of Iwo Jima, Mr. Odle served again in the Korean Conflict.

He was a school bus driver for 17 years without an accident and a Chicago CTA bus driver for over 30 years.

Mr. Odle is survived by two sons: Michael (wife Janet) Odle of West Alis, WI, and Patrick (wife Judy) Odle of Baytown, TX; a daughter, Paandrea (husband Keith Paisley) of Fairview, TN; a daughter-in-law, MiKyong Lee of Bedford, TX; five grandchildren: Dulcinea, Quetzy, Aimee, Benjamin, and Amanda; four great-grandchildren: Angelique, Vanali, Justin, and Evan; two sisters: Alice Keiser and Sharon Gunderson, both of Hillsboro; and four brothers: Clarence Odle of Atlanta, Gary Odle of Tonapau, AZ, and Harry and Larry Odle, both of Litchfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Odle; infant sisters: Iona, Bernice and Berniece; and four brothers: Vernon, Charles "Pooch", Robert, and Paul Odle.

David Lee Osborn, Sr., 77

David Lee Osborn, Sr., 77, of Litchfield but formerly of Hillsboro, died at 6:25 a.m., Sunday, March 8, 2009, in the Litchfield Healthcare Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Osborn are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Hough & Son's Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Mark Bragg will officiate, and burial will be in Chapman Cemetery, Mt. Olive. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., an hour prior to services, at Hough's.

A son of John Edward and Clara Marie (Davis) Osborn, he was born in Litchfield on Thursday, July 30, 1931. He married Virginia Hodges on July 20, 1952; she preceded him in death on March 11, 2008. His parents and four brothers, Hairm, Dewey, George, and Clifford, also preceded him.

Surviving are two sons, David (wife Vicki) Osborn, Jr., of Springfield and Michael Osborn of Litchfield; two daughters, Diana (husband Terry) Bolton of Virden and Mary (husband Matt) Gates of Nokomis; ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Johnny Osborn of Schram City.

He attended the Full Gospel Church of Schram City; during his lifetime he had been employed at the Roller Derby Skate Corporation, the OK Grain Company, and Jubelt's Bakery.

Gladys P. Towell, 86, of Litchfield, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

The Rev. Steve Revisky will officiate at the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 7, at the Christian Church in Litchfield, where Mrs. Towell was a member. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Litchfield.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Towell, who attended Litchfield High School, was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Louisville, KY, daughter of the late Archie and Ida (Sadler) Tackaberry. She was a dietitian at St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield, and enjoyed gardening and reading. Those who knew her said she was a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

She married Kenneth Towell in St. Louis in 1940. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1999. Also preceding her were two brothers, William and Staff Sgt. Kenneth Tackaberry; one sister, Alene Tackaberry; and one grandchild, Susan Lamb Cappellin.

Mrs. Towell leaves her children, Patricia Morgan of Valencia, CA, Carol Blankenship and David (wife Kathy) Towell of Litchfield, Roy Towell of Marshall Islands, Margie Lamb of Taylorville and Kathy Robin (husband Dave Hering) of Fenton, MO; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers Wilbur (wife Cindy) Tackaberry of Litchfield and James (wife Rosemary) Tackaberry of Decatur; and sisters, Shirley (husband David) Hughes and Hazel Suits of Decatur and Rowena Chamberlain of Farmer City.

Ms. Reindl was born in Memphis, TN on December 17, 1946 daughter of the late Everett Granville and Betty Francis (Heaston) Masten. She married Randy Reindl in Jan. 1979. He preceded her in June of 1979.
She leaves two children Rickey Williams of Horn Lake, MS and Terri Ann Williams of Herrin, IL, two grandchildren, two brothers, Mike Masten of Raymond and Tom Masten of Rantoul; and one sister, Debbie Garrison of Harvel. She is also survived by 2 Aunts and an Uncle and by many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.She was preceded by one brother Everett Masten Jr.

James B. Held, 80

James B. Held age 80 of Raymond passed away at 10:08am on February 15, 2009 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro, IL.

Jim was born in Butler Grove Twp. on December 31, 1928, the son of the late Tony and Wilma Cass Held.

He married Marion Mizera  on May 6, 1948 in Hillsboro at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
She survives.

He was a member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond and was a 50 yr member of the Knight of Columbus St. Raymond’s Council 4696.

He is survived by two daughters Donna (Gene) Ruehrup of Staunton, IL and Barbara (Robert) Glover-Carr of Mattoon, IL and one grandson Lance Glover of Mattoon, IL.

Jim is also survived by several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded by two sons Greg Held and Stephen Held and also by two brothers John Held and Robert Held.

Jim was a farmer his whole life and was active in his community. He was presently serving on the Village of Raymond Zoning Board. In the past he had served as Supervisor of Butler Grove Twp., a Montgomery County Board Member, a Hillsboro Hospital Board Member, Captain of the Raymond-Harvel Ambulance where he was also an EMT.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday February 19, 2009 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond.

Kevin Lee Brachear, 59

Mr. Kevin Lee Brachear, 59, of  Waggoner. , passed away at 3:00a, Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Sangamon County, IL.

Kevin was born in Springfield, Illinois on March 24, 1949, the son of the late  Richard  and Nathalie (Lenham) Brachear.

Kevin was a member  of the National Horseshoe Pitcher Assoc. and Abe Lincoln Quarter Midget Assoc.

Kevin, one of the founding members, played Bass in the Shoal Creek Boogie Band.  While in the band he co-wrote a number of songs with the members of the band.

He was employed by the State of Illinois, Dept. of Health and Family Services. He retired in Dec. of 2008, just one month shy of 35 yrs.

He is survived by a son Richie Brachear and a daughter Charity (Companion Jeff) Eskew both of Springfield, IL and two brothers Steve (Donna) Brachear of Benld, IL and Dave (Sue) Brachear Raleigh, NC. 3 Grandchildren and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Friends may call  Friday Feb. 13, 2009 from 5-7pm at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Funeral services will be held on Sat. Feb. 14, 2009 at 10:00am at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Pastor Mary Turner will officiate.

Eloise Marten age 88 of Farmersville Passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield on Feb. 8, 2009.
She was born June 8, 1920 in Farmersville, the daughter of William  and Ruth Gerhard Warnick.
She married F. L. Marten on Oct. 4, 1941 in St. Louis, he survives her.
She is survived by 2 sons Barry (Mabel) Marten of Williamsburg, Va.
David (Ramona) Marten of Santa Barbara, CA
2 daughters Alice (Gary) Bruington of Galesburg, IL
Sherry (the late Daniel) Kalicak of Litchfield
Eloise is also survived by 8 grandchildren Craig and Jason Marten, Bryan and Eric Marten Bret Bruington and Angie Bruington Powers, and Sean and Scott Cowdrey.
She is survived by 2 brothers Homer (Margaret) Warnick of Beardstown, IL and Eldon (Rita) Warnick of Winchester, IL and one sister Verna(Raymond “Joe”) McAnarney of Farmersville along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by a sister Mary Hays and a brother Irwin Wayne Warnick.
Memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

Preston Wesley Streight Jr. age 79 of Raymond passed away on Feb. 5, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. 

He was born on Mar. 26, 1929 in Argenta, IL, the son of  the late Preston and Ione Streight.

He married Delma Bea Ryver and she survives him.

He retired from the USAF as a Msgt having served for over 23 yrs. While in the Air Force he worked in research and development in guided missiles and  the SR -71 program.

He is survived by Two daughters Lonna (Larry) Schulz of Clarendon Hills, IL, Treva Carpenter of San Antonio, TX, and a son Preston (Lavon) Streight of Niceville, FL.

He is also survived by Grandchildren Nathan and Bernadette Schulz, Michael Scott and James Lee Carpenter and Brandi Pryor, Jessie Streight, and Steven Streight.

Grand Grandchildren are Paige and Elena Eldridge and Aiden Pryor

He is also survived by a brother Jim Streight of FL and a sister Barbara Furness of Hillsboro, IL

He was preceded by brothers Shirley Streight, and Lloyd Streight and sisters Rosemary Stites , Ruth Providence and Pauline Mahoney and a grandchild Edmund Preston Schulz.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of services at the church

Funeral services will be Sat. Feb. 7, 2009 at 11:00 at Community of Faith Church in Raymond Pastor Ken Dees will officiate.

Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield

Services for Leona Florence Trobaugh, 88, of Hillsboro, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento. Pastor Randy Sands and Pastor Joshua McKinney will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Mrs. Trobaugh died at 12:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Feb. 25, 1920, at Huey, daughter of the late Frank and Maude (Kesner) Butler. She attended rural Carthill schools and was a self-employed beautician for over 30 years. She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Coffeen, where memorials may be directed.

She married Stanley Trobaugh on Jan. 3, 1939, at Bowling Green, MO. He died March 25, 1999.

Mrs. Trobaugh leaves a son, Stanley K. Trobaugh of Hillsboro; and one grandson, Benjamin Trobaugh of Moreno Valley, CA.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Dorris and Archie Butler

Monisa Rae (Morgan) Clark, 41

Monisa Rae Clark, 41, of Farmersville, passed away at 1:25 AM, Saturday, January 24th, 2009 in the Hospice Unit at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.

She was born in Burlington, IA on June 12, 1967, the daughter of Dennis Ray and Judith Ellen  (Dieterich) Morgan of Kahoka, MO.

Monisa was a 1985 Graduate of Burlington, High School in Burlington, IA

She and her husband Kevin W. Clark, were married in Mt. Pleasant, IA on Sep. 24, 1994, he survives. She was a Homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Farmersville, IL. 
She enjoyed Bowling and playing Bunco.  She loved Volunteering at St. Isidore Catholic School in Farmersville. She cherished the friendship and support she received from the Montgomery County Cancer Association. 

Two daughters, Isabelle and Elena Clark of Farmersville, IL, survive Monisa.
Her maternal grandmother, Lois Hunziker of Kahoka, MO, also survives her.
She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Fran Clark of Auburn and father-in-law Howard Clark of Hettick and by several brothers and sisters-in-laws, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grand parents and maternal grandfather and step-grand father.

Memorials can be sent to the Bank and Trust Co. in Farmersville, where an education fund for her children has been set up.

Visitation will be held on  Tuesday January 27 from 4-8pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, IL.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Farmersville, IL, at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 28th, with Fr. Bunse officiating.

Mildred Loraine Gualandi, 88

Mildred Loraine Gualandi, 88, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 7:05 a.m. in her residence.

A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Gualandi at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, in the Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Cathy Hopkins will officiate, and a private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at Hough's on the day of the memorial.

Mrs. Gualandi was born in Meadow Brook, MO, on April 30, 1920, to Edward and Armenta Lacey. She married Arthur Atkins, and he preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Geno Gualandi; he preceded her in 1986. Also preceding were her parents; one grandson, Jimmy Roller, Sr.; and one great-grandchild, Carly Roller.

She survived by one daughter, Wilma Beam of Hillsboro; one stepdaughter, Deborah Roller of Hillsboro; one grandson, Donny Roller of Hillsboro; five great-grandchildren, Guy and James Roller, Jr. of Hillsboro, Anna Daugherty of Jacksonville, Alisha Roller and Dustin Jeffers of Hillsboro; and great-great-granddaughter, Sabrina Durbin of Jacksonville.

She had worked at the Bussmann Fuse Company in St. Louis.

Lena Mildred Pinkston age 91, of Raymond, passed away on Jan 3, 2009 at Hillsboro Health Care and Rehab Center in Hillsboro.

She was born February 24, 1917. Born in St. Elmo, Mildred was the first daughter and fourth child of Robert and Cora (Troutman) Lancaster. She is predeceased by her siblings: Ralph Edward, Forrest Lane, Wilbur Thomas, and Dorthy Mae (Agan). She grew up in Bethany, Illinois and graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1934.

She married Glen (Buck) Pinkston on May 21, 1936 in Collinsville. He preceded her in death October 1983. In 1943 they moved to Raymond. They owned and operated Raymond Super Service an auto dealership for Plymouth, Desoto and Chrysler products. Mildred was bookkeeper, office manager and salesperson.

In 1970 she began her career at the Illinois Department of Revenue and advanced to Tax Examiner. Mildred retired from Revenue in 1985.

She is survived by son Byron Gene (wife Alice) of Gillespie, daughters Patricia Boehler of Texas, Glenda Hohimer (Sonny) of Chatham, Debbie Hawk (Jim) of Litchfield, and Brenda Todt (Terry) of Raymond.

Three children preceded her in death: Robert, Marcia Dailey and Sherly Smith. She has 22 grandchildren with two deceased, 29 great grandchildren with one deceased, and 4 great-great grandchildren with one deceased.

Funeral services will be held Wed. January 7th 2009 at 10:30am at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond officiating the services will be Paul Jones.

Lee was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church and Past Worthy Matron of Webster Groves OES #64.
