Edwin “Ed” McLarty 69 of Litchfield passed away Dec. 15, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born July 9, 1948 in Oxford MS., to Joseph and Minnie (Johnson) McLarty.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother and by his Step father Charlie Poe.

He attended Lafayette High School in Oxford MS where he also played football. He farmed for Ed Hart, worked assembly for Valley Steel in Carlinville and worked at Roller Derby in Litchfield.

He was a US army Veteran past member of Litchfield Moose Lodge #1643 and Litchfield VFW #3912. He enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling, deer hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding.

He married Peggy Cravens on May 5, 1972 and she survives.

He is also survived by one son Edwin L McLarty wife Sandy and one daughter Rachel Townsend husband Robert both of Litchfield, six  grandchildren Heavanah, Brennen and Melody McLarty, Kaitlyn, Blake and Robert Townsend. Brother Joseph McLarty wife Yin, two sisters Mary Ann Enright husband Jeff and Lottie Jamison and several Nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother John McLarty and one nephew Michael Paul Wiley.

Funeral service will be Tuesday Dec. 19th at 6:00 P.M. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Matt Houser officiating, visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until service time on Tuesday.

Burial will be held at a later date.
