Jimmie Lee Claxon Sr., 81 of Hillsboro passed away Aug. 22, 2016 at 8:29 A.M. at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.

He was born April 4, 1935 in Hillsboro IL to William Russell and Thelma (Kessler) Claxon.

He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School.

He was a metallurgist for Olin Corp. in Alton IL, retiring from there in 1995 after 42 years. He was a member of the International association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers and a member of St. James Baptist church. Before his health declined his hobbies were fishing, motorcycles and building model airplanes. He had a great love of animals, especially his dogs.

 He was married to Beverly Ann Hapner on March 26, 1953; she preceded him on Dec. 3, 2011.

He is survived by his daughters Vickie (Kenny) Barlow Jama Claxon, Joan (Kevin) Landers, Stephanie (Pat) Dettman, Steve Claxon, Jan (Tom) Sherer  all of Hillsboro, and Julie (Larry Eichoff) Draper of Butler and Jimmie Claxon Jr. of Florida, one sister Carole (Charlie) Kirby of Hillsboro. 12 Grandchildren and13 great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 2 grandchildren Sara Sherer and LeAnn Draper, half-sister Mary (Claxon) Hickerson and half-brother William Claxon.

A private family service with burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery at a later date.
