Lee Fred Bales of Irving passed away Thursday July 14, 2016 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab.

He was born July 14, 1935 in East St. Louis IL to Russell and Belle (Borland) Bales.

He was a graduate of East St. Louis High School. He graduated from Gem City College School of Horology in Quincy IL.

He retired from the U.S. Post office as a supervisor after 18 years. He did clock repair for 38 years. He was a 6 year veteran of the Illinois National Guard and a member of the National association of watch and clock collectors.

He married Penny Bryce in 1958 and she survives.

He is survived by 2 brothers Russell Bales of Escondido CA and Richard Bales of East Peoria IL along with one sister Nadine LaFavor of St. Charles Mo., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Eugene Bales.

Memorial services will be at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Wed. July 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. James Finnell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
