Shirley E. Murphy age 96, of Litchfield formerly of Staunton and Farmersville Died July 1, 2017, at Heritage Manor in Litchfield, IL.

She was born Nov. 20, 1920 in Sublette, IL, the daughter of the late Otto and Helena Walter Koehler.

She married John E. Murphy on Dec. 30, 1942  in Peoria and he survives

She worked as an RN at St. Francis in Peoria, IL, St John’s in Springfield and St. Francis in Litchfield. She and her Husband John E. Murphy ran the Murphy Funeral Homes in Farmersville and Staunton for many years and also provided ambulance service to the community.

Besides her husband, she is survived by,2 daughters, Pat (Roger) Frey of Canton, Jo Sack of Peoria, 6 sons John P. (Linda) of Normal, Dennis J. (Chris) of State College, Pen. Tim P.  ( Susan ) of Waterloo, IL Dan B. (Linda) of Overland Park Kansas, Kevin (Tammy) of Atwater , and Terry B. (Companion Cheryl Holiday) of Staunton.  She is also survived by 25 Grand 31 great and a great great grand daughter; many nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was preceded by a grandson Ben Murphy and 2 brothers Omar Koehler and Walter “Shorty” Koehler and one son in law Kip Sack.

Memorials to the St. Martin’s Cemetery or Meals on wheels

Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Farmersville at  10 am on July 6.

Visitation will be held on  July 5 from  4 to 7 also at the church.

Burial will be in St. Martin in Farmersville.
