Walter L. Courtright Jr. 81 of Hillsboro passed away Thursday      Oct. 27, 2016 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born in Louisville IL on June 3, 1935 to Walter and Vivian (Miller) Courtright Sr.

He worked at Echlin and Dana Brake Parts in Litchfield for over 26 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

He was well known as a volunteer for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season, familiar face outside the courthouse with his dog Jake, avid fisherman and cyclist and a St. Louis cardinal fan.

He married Corrine Jones they later divorced.

He is survived by one son Walter Courtright III and Wife Kristin of Hillsboro and one Daughter Trisha Ringhausen and fiancé Joshua Walker of Hillsboro, 8 grandchildren, one brother Clarence Courtright, one sister and Josephine Bloodworth-King.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Everett Courtright and three sisters Vera Franklin, Betty Courtright and Carolyn Lacondro.

 

Funeral service will be Monday Oct. 31, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Jeff Hemken officiating; pastor of Calvary Baptist church, visitation will begin on Monday at 10:00 A.M. until service time.

Full Military rites will be conducted at graveside by VFW Post #1306 and Irving American Legion Post #425

 

Burial will be in Mt Moriah cemetery in Coffeen.

 

Memorials can be directed to Calvary Baptist church or Hillsboro Salvation Army.
