Carol L. (Lockwood) Baran 73 of Hillsboro passed away Oct. 13, 2018 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born May 2, 1945 in Litchfield IL to John and Mary (Pianfetti) Lockwood.
She was a graduate of Litchfield High School. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro and taught Sunday school to 1st and 2nd graders for 32years. She worked in Springfield for the Illinois Commerce Commission, She had a licensed daycare, she was the school crossing guard for 19 years and owned and operated Baran’s paint store and Christian book store in Hillsboro.
She married William “Bill” Baran on August 17, 1968; they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Carrie (Tim) Fogle of Litchfield, son Mick (Nikki) Baran of Manhattan IL and daughter Mary (Rob) Benoit of St Joseph IL, grandchildren John and Hannah Fogle, Jack and Megan Baran and Audrey and Zach Benoit. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Lowe of Gillespie, LaJuanna Anderson of Sawyerville and Valerie Cordes of Litchfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Dorothy Najduk and Doris Herring.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Oct 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro in Hillsboro with Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday Oct. 16, 2018 from 5-7PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro
Memorials can be directed to Calvary Baptist Church.
