Graveside services for Harry and Ruth McGinnis will be officiated by Rev. Larry Moslener and held on June 16th at 4pm in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. There will be a visitation held at graveside an hr prior.
Harry Eldon McGinnis, 90, a longtime resident of Raymond, died Friday, June 3, 2016, at 12:44 p.m. at Halifax Hospice Center in Edgewater, FL.
Mr. McGinnis was born on Sept. 6, 1925, in Litchfield, the son of Harry Parker and Selma McGinnis of Raymond. He married Ruth Laverne Wempen on Sept. 4, 1948, in Raymond.
He was a farmer and member of Edgewater United Methodist Church in Edgewater, as well as a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, the Montgomery County Shriners, past president of the M&M Shrine Club in Springfield and a 32nd degree Mason.
His wife, Ruth Laverne McGinnis, 86, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 1:50PM at home in Edgewater, Florida.
She was born January 2, 1931, in Litchfield, IL, she was the daughter of Henry and Meta Wempen of Raymond, IL.
She was a farmer’s wife and member of Edgewater United Methodist Church, Edgewater; lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star; former Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
They are survived by a son James and his wife Linda, Port Orange; a daughter Cathy, of Edgewater; six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
They were preceded in death by a daughter, Carliene, in infancy and a grandson, Aaron.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Asbury Cemetery or the Edgewater United Methodist Church or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
The family is being assisted by Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.
