Ronald “Ron” Reeves 78 of Hillsboro passed away while surrounded by his family on Sunday Oct. 20, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born June 16, 1941 in Pittsburg Kansas to Gilbert and Eva (Loyd) Reeves.
He graduated High School in Springfield at Cathedral Boys High School and graduated from SIU Carbondale with a degree in forestry.
He worked for IDOT district 4 as a landscape architect before owning and operating Illinois wood preserve in Hillsboro. He was of the Catholic faith, past member of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, Hillsboro Area Hospital board and Hillsboro city councilman. He loved his family and the outdoors including hunting and fishing.
He married Karen Mayol on Sept 15, 1962 and she preceded him in death in 2010.
He is survived by one daughter Lori (Dan) Ernst of Rochester, two sons Del (Wendy) Reeves of Rochester and Bret (Michelle) Reeves of Hillsboro, grandchildren Miranda, Regan, Allison, Matthew and Nathan, and one brother Gary Reeves of New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Karen and one brother Norman Reeves in 2018.

Memorial services will be Friday October 25, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro; visitation will be from 4:00 PM until service time. With Fr. Brian Alford officiating.
