Barbara A. (Barnett) Walker

Barbara Ann Walker, aged 86, of Butler, passed away October 5, 2023 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab.

She was born in Palmyra, Illinois on February 10, 1937, to Ralph and Christina (Bateman) Barnett.

She was a graduate of Girard High School. She worked at Savings and Loans in both California and Springfield, Illinois. She retired from Walmart in Litchfield as a clerk. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro and Montgomery County Home Extension.

She married Donald Walker on July 22, 1956; He preceded her September 12, 2022.

She is survived by four daughters Debra A. (Roger) Compton of Edwardsville, Wendy Ballhurst of Butler, Brenda L. (Bill) Krieger of Ft. Myers, FL, and Diane L. Walker of Edwardsville. Barbara is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Scott, Dustin and Rachel Compton and Nicholas Ballhurst, 8 great-grandchildren and one half-sister Lyla Ahrens of Breeze, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Donald, one infant son Randall Eugene Walker, one grandson Benjamin Ballhurst and one brother Jessie Barnett.

Funeral services will be Sunday October 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Randy Sands officiating; visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Burial will be in Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro was in charge of local arrangements.
