Clara (Adcock) Dale

Clarabelle “Clara” (Adcock) Dale, age 92 of Coffeen, passed away on September 22, 2024, at her home.

Clara was born on February 4, 1932, in Greenville, Illinois to her parents David and Mary Elizabeth (File) Adcock.

She graduated from Greenville High School in 1950 and went on to work for Olin Corporation and Arlens retail stores.

Clara married Robert Dale Sr. in November of 1951 and he precedes her in death.

Clara loved to spend her time gardening, fishing and gambling. However, her favorite pastime was making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandsons.

She is survived by her granddaughter Sayna (Daniel) Settle, grandson Dale Vick, great-grandsons Chase Settle and Treven Umphries, her sisters Oneta Hennsley and Mary Elizabeth Craig, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dale Sr., son Robert Dale Jr., daughter Mary Jane Shelbourne, and siblings James Compton, Oliver Gene Adcock, and Doris Callahan.

A visitation will take place on September 25, 2024, at 11:00 until 1:00 at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A burial will follow the visitation in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Greenville.

Memorials in Clara’s Honor may be directed to the International Hummingbird Society located in Arizona.
