Clifton Eugene Flowers
September 8, 1936 ~ December 25, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Clifton Eugene Flowers, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away December 25, 2023, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Clifton was born on September 8, 1936, in Springfield, Illinois, to his parents Clint and Ruth (Behl) Flowers.
Clifton married Dolores Johnson in September of 1968. The two have spent the last 50+ years together, having enjoyed traveling between their properties in Mississippi and Illinois and finding adventures along the way. Clifton was an avid fisherman, having always carried a fishing pole and bait with him wherever he went. He and Dolores loved to fish together wherever they could find a place to cast a line. Clifton also enjoyed hunting all his life and growing up he raised and trained his dogs to enjoy the sport of hunting as well. He was also a gardener, having grown mainly vegetables but in the later years it turned to flowers. He worked at Oak Ridge Cemetery, but has since retired.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Dawn Spinner of Mississippi, son Micheal Flowers of Hillsboro, stepdaughter Debra K. (Husband Randy) Jones of Hillsboro; grandchildren Kailyn Spinner, Nathan Spinner, Matthew Spinner, and Elizabeth Flowers, as well as his four beloved dogs.
Clifton is preceded in death by his parents and all eight of his siblings.
Services for Clifton will be held at a later date.
Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
