DON W. MCWARD

Don William McWard age 80 of Raymond passed away on April 6, 2018 at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro.

He was born in Carlinville, the son of Vern and Nellie Klaus McWard.

He married Marilyn Poggenpohl in Raymond on June 29, 1958 at the Raymond Methodist Church..

He was a co-owner of Raymond Implement in Raymond from 1962-1992 where he sold International Harvester and Case IH equipment. He was an avid Golfer, Bowler and Deer hunter.  

Don was instrumental in the development of Shoal Creek Golf Course in Raymond; he served on the Planning committee, spent numerous volunteer hours during the construction phase and after his retirement he took over as the Pro shop manager. He was a Charter Member of Shoal Creek and golfed on the Men’s League.  He was a Driver for the Raymond/Harvel Ambulance and served on the Park board for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, a daughter Donna (Roger) Myers of Raymond and a son Aaron (Amy) McWard of Raymond, IL, A Granddaughter Karson Myers and her companion Adam Engel of Mascoutah. Two sisters Virginia Pitchford of Springfield and Mary (Bob) McGlaughlin of Micco, FL. Besides his Parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dale McWard.

In lieu of flowers; Memorials may be left to the Raymond-Harvel Ambulance or the Donors choice.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 10 from 5-7 at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am at the Funeral home with Rev. Larry Moslener officiating with burial in Asbury Cemetery.
