DARCI DENISE TERNEUS Wife, Mother, Daughter, Teacher Difference Maker
Darci Denise Terneus, 46, of Raymond, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Saturday, March 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00pm at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Raymond. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Ziegenbein officiating. Burial will be at Asbury Cemetery, Raymond.
CDC guidelines will be followed, including masks and social distancing. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family with arrangements.
Darci was born February 13, 1975 in Springfield, Illinois, to Danny and Marcia (McLean) Rossi. She married John William Terneus on October 23, 1999, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, Illinois.
Mrs. Terneus graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield with a degree in Communications, then later completed her teaching credentials. She was a marketing coordinator for Andrews Engineering and Hanson Engineers. Mrs. Terneus taught third grade in the Panhandle School District for fifteen years. She served on various committees, the parent teacher organization, the Panhandle Teachers Association, and was the president of the Panhandle Education Association. Darci served our Lord as a teacher for the Sunday school classes as well as summer Vacation Bible School. She attended Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Darci loved reading, scrapbooking, the beach, and especially spending time with her friends and family.
In addition to her husband, John, Mrs. Terneus is survived by her parents, Dan and Marcia Rossi of Raymond; her children Samuel and Lilly of Raymond; sister Dana (Doug) Pitchford, Raymond; aunt and uncle, Fred and Sue Rossi, Raymond, an aunt, Becky McLean, Quincy, IL; in-laws John Charles and Wendy (Webster) Terneus, Farmersville, Kristin and Desiree Farchione, Sturtevant, Wisconsin, Jenna and Sean Miller, Esko, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Dade Pitchford, Desi Pitchford, both of Raymond, Addison Miller, Shelby Miller, and Raylon Miller, all of Esko, Minnesota; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Al and Lucille Rossi Seelbach, Francis and Melba Seelbach, Geneva McLean; and an uncle Denny McLean.
Memorials may be directed to the Panhandle Education Foundation. It was Darci’s dream to have an elementary library at Raymond Grade School.
