David M. Benning

David M. Benning of Raymond passed away March 14 2020 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL.  He was born July 3, 1947 in Hillsboro IL, the son of Louis Martin and Emma Iona Hudson Benning. 

Dave has been in business for over 43 years starting out as Daves Lawn and Garden, a small store front business located in Raymond. He later expanded to Daves True Value and Benning Distributing, a Grasshopper Mower Distribution Company. He also 

He served in the US Army from 1968 through 1971. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Southern Illinois University. 

He is survived by his wife Frances Dullenty who he married on July 6, 1974.  Dave is also survived by daughter Carrie (Jonathon) Wills of Champaign IL, sons Matthew (Kathy) Benning of Raymond and Eric (Jennifer) Benning of Bunker Hill. Grandchildren are Gavin, Grant, Laney, and Isley. His two brothers and two sisters survive, Harold (Ruth) Benning of Raymond, Ivan (Karen) Benning of Harvel, sisters Dorothy (George) Sloss of Raymond and Virginia (Sam) Rinella of Carbondale.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Russell, Paul, Ralph, and sister Joyce Weihe.

Memorials may be left to the Panhandle Food Pantry, American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30am on March 20, 2020 at Asbury Cemetery.

Those planning to attend are asked to follow the CDC guidelines and if you are Symptomatic of a flu like illness or are someone with a compromised immune system to refrain from attending.
