Douglas M. Perry

Douglas Michael Perry, age 68, of Carlinville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was born August 8, 1955 in Jacksonville, IL the son of Warren and Ruby (Huson) Perry.

He married Joanna Fischer on November 12, 1982.

He is survived by his wife Joanna of forty-one years and his two sons Jarad (fiancée Margiory) and Shawn, his two sisters Kathy (Don) Dugger and Marylin Boatman, sister-in-law Sun Perry and preceded in death by his parents, brother Lynn Perry and sister Karen Perry.

Doug served twenty-three years in the United States Army in both active duty and the National Guard and retired as a Master Sergeant. He also served the State of Illinois as a corrections officer for twenty-two years and retired a Sergeant.

Doug was a loving and devoted husband and father who had a life-long love of learning and was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to new and exciting places. He lived a wondrous and adventurous life through his service to his country and a love of history, visiting historic places across the world.

He was a big sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and his hometown football team the Carlinville Cavaliers.

Visitation will be on January 11th from 10:00-11:00 AM at Memorial Christian Church, Carlinville, and funeral will follow with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.

Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family with arrangements.
