Dwight Edward Hemken 91 of Hillsboro passed away Sunday Sept 25, 2022 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 25, 1931 in Walshville IL to William and Lillie Belle (Kitchen) Hemken.
He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and F.W. Olin Vocational School and Boys State in 1947
He was a Bi-Vocational minister and Journeyman Machinist. He served in the U.S. Airforce as an Airman 1st Class from 1949-1952. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, he umpired for high school baseball and announced for Hillsboro High School Football.
He married Joyce May (Bentley) Hemken on April 18, 1953 and they were married over 69 years and She survives along with his children Rev. Jeff (Patty) Hemken of Phoenix AZ and Nancy (Reggie) Wood of Licking Mo., 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one brother Kenneth Hemken of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents on daughter Kathy Ann (Hemken)
Blake and siblings Alice Jarman, John Fredrick (Fritz) Hemken, Martha Elizabeth (Key) Reed, Charles Leroy (Chike) Hemken and Dorothy L. (Dot) File.
Memorials can be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be Thursday Sept 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
