George Allen Ruppe 85 of Vandalia passed away Dec. 24, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Coffeen on April 16, 1936 to Walter and Cordia Gertrude (Elam) Ruppe.
He had early schooling in Coffeen and graduated from Hillsboro High School in1956.
He worked at Van Tran in Vandalia for 19 years and worked at Irwin Seating and folding bleachers.
He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hilltoppers coin club and the 1st Church of God in Vandalia.
He married Barbara Alender and she preceded him in death, he married Cora Ruppe and she survives along with one step son Randy Vincent of Vandalia. He and Cora raised two girls as their daughters Cindy Helton and Tiffany Gottman both of Vandalia, along with his grandchildren Lexi, Tabby, Brayden and Sadie Vincent all of Vandalia..
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Ila Butler and Imogene Hudelson.
Memorials can be directed to the 1st Church of God in Vandalia or Fayette County Health Department Hospice.
A celebration of life will be Wednesday January 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the 1st church of God in Vandalia with Pastors Zach Schaeffer and Don Hudelson officiating. A visitation will be from 10:00 Am until service time at the church.
A private burial will be in Farmers Cemetery in Schobonier later.
