Gerald M. Kalaher

Gerald M. Kalaher 80 of Litchfield passed away Monday April 25, 2022 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 20, 1941 in Litchfield IL to Martin and Reba (Kahle) Kalaher.

He was a graduate of Litchfield High School and was a supervisor at Milnot. He drove a grain truck for Carol Kalaher Trucking. He was a member of the Fillmore Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed riding motorcycles, bicycles and his mule.

He married Carol Poppenhouse on May 24, 1961 and she preceded him in death on Nov 25, 2009. He married Linda Zimmerle on Sept. 26, 2015 and she survives along with his mother in law Josephine Poppenhouse and children son Dr. Michael (Kimberly) Kalaher of Murphysboro, son Bryan Kalaher of  Coffeen, daughter Amy (Mike) Goodwin of Litchfield son Mark (Teresa) Kalaher of Des Plaines IL and son David (Mieka) Kalaher of Litchfield, 3 step children Tina Sonders of Ramsey, Gina McDaniel of Geneseo IL and David Nalley of Hillsboro, grandchildren Landon Sarver, Dylan Kalaher, Dawson Kalaher-Sarver, Jason Todd, Maycen Wiseman, Laura Alexander, Jordan Richards, JoAnna Kalaher, Mark Kalaher, Victor Kalaher and Maggie Kalaher, 8 step Grandchildren, 4 great-grandchiildren Carter and Harrison Sarver and Mila and Emma Wiseman, 3 step great grandchildren and 4 siblings Margaret Harmon, Marilyn Morgan, Terry Kalaher and William Kalaher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, one granddaughter Madison Kalaher and siblings Marybelle Birkenkamp, Martin Kalaher and Marcella Crawford.

Memorials can be directed to Fillmore Baptist church

A memorial service will be held at Fillmore Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on May 17, 2022

Burial will follow at Bost Hill Cemetery in Filmore.

Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
