Harold Benning Obituary

Harold Louis Benning, 93, of Raymond, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022.

He was born February 16, 1929, to his parents Louis Martin and Emma Iona (Hudson) Benning in Raymond, Illinois.

After graduating from Raymond High School, Harold served in the US Army and received the rank of corporal. He was deployed overseas which earned him a Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and a United Nations Service Medal. When his service was complete, Harold returned home to work on the family farm which he eventually retired from.

Harold was a past member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and a faithful member of the Living Stones Church in Litchfield.

Harold married Ruth Hahankamp on March 28, 1954, and together they had four children who gave them 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, children Colleen McAdamis of CO, Constance (Jeff) Brown of Virden, Julie (Jon Robinson) Benning of Taylorville, and Michael (Michele) Benning of Raymond. Also surviving are his siblings Dorothy Sloss of Raymond, Virginia Rinella of Carbondale, Ivan Benning of Harvel, and sister-in-law Fran Benning of Raymond.

Harold was preceded in death by his siblings David Benning, Paul Benning, Ralph Benning, Joyce Weihe, and Russell Ludwig.

“Harold’s passion was to witness to people about the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He paid our sin debt in full through His suffering and death on the cross. He did this for the love He had for us, so that we could have eternal life with Him, forever and forever. All we have to do is believe and praise Him for all He did for us. Our Redeemer is so faithful and true.”

Memorials can be directed to Life Outreach International of Texas.
