Helen E. (Ring) Barnes

Helen E. Barnes, age 101, of Hillsboro, passed away on August 26, 2022 at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. Helen was born on September 24, 1920 in Atwater, IL, the daughter of John Henry and Opal Blanch Banning Ring. Mrs. Barnes married Glenn Leroy Barnes on March 1, 1941 in Nokomis, IL.

Helen was a homemaker, farm wife, and worked at the Nokomis Dress Factory. She was a member of the Butler Union Church.

Helen is survived by her children: John Barnes of Reading, MA, and Glenda Williams (husband Rick) of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Rebecca (Slightom) Heacox (husband Brad) of Bloomington, IL; and Larry (Gene) Slightom Jr. of Butler, IL; 3 great grandchildren, Savannah and Shannah Slightom, and Jesse Baugh: 2 great-great grandchildren, Tinley Rae Slightom and Maeva Shea Jett, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Charles Ring, daughter-in-law Liz Barnes, and granddaughter Teresa Slightom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Butler Union Church in Butler, IL.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond, IL with Ralph Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery.
