James Lester Roemelin

James Lester Romelin Sr., age 79, passed away on December 23, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

James was born on January 16, 1945, in Hillsboro, Illinois to his parents Lester and Evelyn (Reschak) Roemelin.

James graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1963. He spent his working career as a printer for Phillips Brothers Printing in Springfield, Illinois.

He was an avid musician that would always enjoy creating new music. He loved playing his instruments and did so any time he could. James was also a custom woodworker, having created many beautiful pieces over time. He was also a member of St. Agnes Church in Hillsboro.

He married Connie Abell on October 5, 1968, and she survives him.

Besides his wife Connie, James is survived by his children Jimmy Roemelin (Fiance Dana Bertetto), Chris (Trish) Roemelin, Bonnie (Terry) Hefley, all of Hillsboro, and Kristin Berube of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Dylan Roemelin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
