John Curtis Van Giesen II, aged 73 of Hillsboro, passed away on September 9, 2024 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs.
John was born on February 2, 1951 in Beardstown, Illinois to his parents John Curtis and Donna Lee (Reichert) Van Giesen.
He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. He served from 1969-1978, during the time of the Vietnam War. While in the Navy, John worked as a Machinist Mate which led him to careers with both CIPS and Ameren.
John was a member of the Litchfield VFW and the Irving American Legion, as well as the NRA.
John married Linda Louise Veith on January 3, 1970 in Mount Sterling, Illinois, and she survives.
Also surviving John are his children, John Van Giesen III of Mount Sterling, Christina Van Giesen of Hillsboro, and Donald (Melissa) Van Giesen of Hillsboro, his 6 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren and sisters Bonnie (Roger) Rupp and Vieve (John) Veith, both of Quincy, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
