Joseph Frederick Boucher, age 70, of Hillsboro Illinois formally of Litchfield passed away August 9 2020 at Hillsboro Nursing and Rehab. He was born March 21, 1950 in Hillsboro. He was the son of Joseph H. Jr. and Reta Brown Boucher.
Joe graduated from Litchfield High School in 1968 and then served in the Illinois National Guard. He married Paula Walker on January 20, 1970 and later divorced. Joe was an avid animal lover. His specialty was raising and showing horses. He was a member of the Luck and Buck saddle club in Hillsboro and the Raymond Saddle Club in Raymond. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Amvets in Litchfield. During his lifetime he had worked at Illinois Consolidated, Prairieland Construction, Dravo and Tru-weld. He enjoy going to the Fox Theater for plays, Chaifez Arena for concerts and the St. Louis Muni In the summer for musicals. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about the history of our nation. He loved to watch old westerns and collect elephant figurines from all over the country of which he took a great pride in. He loved his two cats and never hesitated to pick up stray animals and care for them until he could find them a new home. Joe never met a stranger and he had a very witty sense of humor.
He is survived by three sons; Paul Boucher of Hillsboro, Brian Boucher of Arizona, and Sherman (girlfriend Emily) Boucher of Hillsboro. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Gretchen Boucher, Sharon husband Chris Michaels, Sarah Boucher Wyatt Boucher, Ashley Boucher, two great-grandchildren Elliot and Olivia Michaels. Three sisters also survive, Frances Currie, Jo Ann husband Tom Currie, Rebecca husband Glen Cherry, three nieces Amy Mullins, Julie Bronson, Sharla Yurkovich and nephew Tom Cherry, his companion Christine Harms, daughter in law, Heather Boucher and many great –nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Joe was preceded in death by a brother-in-law John Currie.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be in ElmWood Cemetery in Litchfield with Rudy Elam officiating the family suggests memorials to PAWS Care of Montgomery county or the Litchfield Moose.
