Joseph W. Burdell

Joseph W. Burdell, 60, of Virden, formerly of Nokomis, passed away September 4, 2022 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield IL.

He was born June 21, 1962 in Hillsboro, IL to Sylvester “Sonny” and Linda Marie (Smith) Burdell.

Joseph was a 1980 graduate from Nokomis High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY in the infantry with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. Joseph went on to become an electrician. He was a past member of the Fillmore Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sisters Kathie (Bill) Gonet of Nokomis, Rebecca Fisher of SC, Susan (Steve) Ade of Pana, and one brother Jeff (Ruth) Butler of Aurora IL. Joseph is also survived by several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
