Karen (Larimore) Shafer

Karen (Larimore) Winner Shafer 83 of Springfield but formerly of Hillsboro passed away March 4, 2022 at her residence.

She was born January 14, 1939 in Pekin IL to Bert and Kathleen (Smith) Larimore.

She was a 1957 graduate of Petersburg Harris High School and she retired from the State of Illinois as a payroll supervisor with the Illinois Department of Transportation. She was member of Hillsboro Free Methodist Church.

She married Jack D. Shafer in 1992 and he preceded her in death January 5, 2002.

She is survived by three children Gary (Dawn) Winner of St Louis MO, Julie (Pete) Schneider of Springfield IL and Darryl Winner of Springfield IL, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one brother Dean Larimore of Pekin IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and one sister.

Memorials can be directed to American Alzheimer’s Association.

Funeral service will be Wednesday March 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Randy Sands officiating, visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
