Kevin D. Cook

Kevin Cook 61 of Nokomis, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away August 30th at 4:40 P.M. at Hillsboro Hospital.

Kevin was born Jan 22, 1963, in Alton IL to the late Carl Cook and Joyce (Lambert) Cook. He was a graduate of Alton High school where he loved playing football and being the life of the party. He married Cora Lee Gregg in 1990 and they later divorced. Kevin went on to meet Kenna Durbin in 2002 and she survives. Kevin was a free spirit and had a hippie soul. He lived in several states including Mississippi, South Dakota, and Illinois. In his life he worked for the forestry service in South Dakota, Salvation Army, and Dollar General. He was an avid fisherman, especially for catfish and loved watching Cardinals and Braves baseball. He loved spending time with his family but above all he was a proud grandfather.

Kevin had an infectious laugh and award winning smile. He was a great storyteller and lover of food and naps.  He enjoyed taking trips with Kenna and his family. Especially camping with his sisters. He also enjoyed the companionship of his rescue dog Ava.

Kevin is survived by his mother Joyce Cook of Troy, fiancée Kenna Durbin of Nokomis, his son Cristopher Hollingsworth of Wyoming, Daughters Nicole (David) Kelsch of Gillespie, and Melanie Hollingsworth of Minnesota.

Siblings Robert (Theresa) Tucker of Benld, Randy Tucker of Wood River, Kimberly (Brian) Harshbarger of Holiday Shores, and Carla Cook-Hettick of Hillsboro

 Bonus children Amber and David Hollingsworth, Scott Knebel, Derek (Jessica) Durbin, Corey (Heather) Durbin, and Cody (Brooke) Durbin.

Grandchildren Mackenzie, April, Ava, Chloe, Mataya, Mikah, Alyxxus, Lealand, Elijah, Grayson, Isaiah, Noah, Liam, Kora, Freya, Jacob, Cassidy, Lucas, Gage, Blake, Audrey, Paisleigh, Linley, Rylan, and Isabella.

Niece Cassandra (Ryan) Malloy of Hillsboro and many other special nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Haley Renee Cook, his father Carl V. Cook, Grandmother Leona Hosfelt, Grandmother Melita Rose Vaughn, and many other wonderful family members.

Funeral services will be Sept. 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Randy Tucker officiating, visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
