Lance L. Owens, 68 of Irving died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 8:14pm at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Hillsboro.
Private graveside ceremonies will be held at Ramsey Cemetery on Friday, January 8th at 10:00am. Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting family with arrangements.
Lance was born August 23, 1952 in Hillsboro to Lineol "Bud" & Darlene (Cole) Owens. He married Carol (Stik) McCaherty on May 21, 1983 and they later divorced.
He attended Nokomis High School and became a Security Guard at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro. He later worked in Security from which he retired.
Lance loved his family, friends, country music, old western TV shows, fast cars, & cold Budweiser. He was a shade tree mechanic who loved tinkering in his garage, but his most precious times were spent with his family especially his grandchildren. He was gregarious, outgoing, & never met a stranger. His sense of humor & endless line of BS will be missed.
He is survived by a son, his daughter Lacey (fiancé Neal Strausbaugh) of Hillsboro, grandchildren Camden & Kinlee Strausbaugh, sister Debra (husband Ronald) Petefish of Ashland, IL, sister Cayla Simonton of Hillsboro and 2 nieces & a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
