Marvin B. Elam 89 of Taylor springs passed away Sept. 30, 2021 at his home.
He was born on Dec 15, 1931 in Donnellson IL to Ira Elam and Opal M (White) Elam.
He married Alice Burris on April 26, 1958, they were married for over 63 years and she survives.
He was a 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He worked for Kroger and Coffeen Coal Mine. He served as mayor of Taylor Springs. He enjoyed old west movies, fishing, hunting and keeping an immaculate garden. He was a musician; he was a guitar player and vocalist in the band “The Drifters”.
He is survived by his wife Alice, children Frank (Carol) Elam, Pam (Kelly) Mackey, grandchildren Sara (Corey) McFarlane, Susan (Ed) Stewart, Melissa (Baxter) Grace, Kelli (Michael) Duncan, Adam, Luke, Karli Mackey, Mona Elam (Companion Tim Charles), Josh (Lisa) Elam, Torie (James) Standridge. Daughter in laws Jenny Elam and Teresa Elam, sister Dorothy (Larry) Peregrine, eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents’ one brother Hershel Elam and two sons Marvin (Butch) Elam and Ed Elam.
Memorials can be directed to Taylor Springs fire Department or Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Coffeen.
A private family burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Coffeen.
