It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Polston on
November 4, 2024, at the age of 86. Mary Ann was born in Urbana, IL. on May 26,
1938, to Howard and Mildred (Anderson) Campbell. In 1940, her family moved to Mt.
Vernon, IL. After high school, she spent the next four years at The University of
Oklahoma, from which she graduated in 1960 and was a member of the Delta Gamma
Sorority.
After college, she returned to Mt. Vernon, where she was married on August 5,
1961, to Ronald W. Polston, a member of the Craig & Craig Law firm. This was the firm
where Mary Ann’s father worked.
In 1965, Mary Ann’s husband, Ronald, became a member of the faculty at
Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis and she and her husband relocated to
the area. They had a daughter in 1967, Anne Campbell Penrose, who resides in Dallas,
Texas. Anne married Christopher Penrose, and the couple gave the Polston’s two
grandchildren, Mackenzie Anne Lavietes of Dallas, Texas and Christopher Graham
Penrose of Brooklyn, New York. Upon retirement in 1995, they moved to Raymond, IL
where her husband still resides.
Mary Ann was known for her kindness and generosity. She was an amazing
mother and grandmother, as well a pillar of the community. She was an incredible cook
and amassed a wonderful collection of recipes over the years. Mary Ann also had quite
the green thumb and was always tending to her flowers. Especially those in her favorite
color, pink.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Howard Williams
Campbell, of Henderson, Kentucky and survived by her twin sisters Carol Campbell
Mitchell of McLean, Virginia and Susan Campbell Weaver of Edmond, Oklahoma, as
well as brother David Campbell of Mt. Vernon, IL.
Memorials in Mary Ann's Honor may be given to either the Panhandle Educational Foundation or to A Community of Faith Church in Raymond.
Funeral services are being held at A Community of Faith, 101 Belle St.
Raymond, IL. 62560 at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 8, 2024. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M prior to the service. Mary Ann’s final resting place will be at Asbury Cemetery
in Raymond.
