Merle D. McFarlin 68 of Hillsboro passed away on June 3, 2020 in Springfield at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born June 2, 1952 in Hillsboro IL to Leslie Edsel and Mary Lou (Reynolds) McFarlin.
He was a 1970 graduate of Raymond High School and a graduate of Ranken Technical School.
He was self-employed and well known locally; He was owner of Sportsman Park in Litchfield, Merle’s Family Fun Center in Hillsboro and co-owner of Sweet Addictions in downtown Hillsboro.
He is survived by one daughter Alora (Matt) Chandler of Hillsboro, two grandchildren Jovee and Ezra Chandler, one sister Martha Patterson of Carlyle, nephew Robert (Allie) Patterson of Fairview Heights and great nephew and niece Cooper and Cera Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ada Jean Groves.
Memorials can be directed to Cuddles for Clefts or Shriners Hospital.
Funeral service will be Monday June 8, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral home in Hillsboro with Rev. Randy Sands officiating. A visitation will be Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
At 12:00 PM the funeral will be live streamed via Facebook on Hough funeral home and cremation page.
