Nellie Lee Moroney Mackey 86 of Hillsboro passed away Oct. 21, 2019 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab.
She was born in Montgomery County near Coffeen IL on May 24, 1933 to Paul and Wilda Hill Moroney.
She was a graduate of Fillmore High School in 1950 and she received her teachers’ certificate from Eastern in 1952, Graduated SIUE in 1973 in Elementary Ed. and got her masters in 1980 in Early Childhood development.
She taught school in Moweaqua IL, Irving grade school and Hillsboro Beckemeyer grade school.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro.
She is survived by two sons Paul Mackey of Palms Springs CA., Kelly (Pam) Mackey of Hillsboro, three daughters Terri (Norman Compton) Mackey of Hillsboro, Robin (Steve) May of Litchfield and Shannon (Tory) Daniels of Hillsboro 7 Grandchildren Kelli Duncan, Adam Mackey, Luke Mackey, Karli Mackey, Ashli Alexander, Taylor Daniels and Tad Daniels and 4 Great Grandchildren James Duncan, George Duncan, Rose Duncan and Ansley Alexander one sister Shirley Davis of Savoy IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials can be directed to juvenile diabetes or Hillsboro education foundation.
A funeral mass will be Friday Oct 25, 2019 at 12:00 PM at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Fr. Dan Willenborg officiating, Visitation will be Friday From 10:00 Am until service time at St. Agnes Church.
Burial will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.
