Pearl Lorraine (Daley) Laird

Pearl Lorraine (Daley) Laird, 101, of Litchfield, passed away July 28, 2024 at HSHS St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.

She was born February 15, 1923 in Gillespie IL to John Charles and Marie Elizabeth (Bassett) Daley.

Pearl worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Litchfield.

She married George A. Small Jr. and then Harry Laird and both preceded her in death.

Pearl is survived by her children Carolyn (David) Hankins of Litchfield, George A. “Buddy” (Rosalie) Small of Litchfield, Roy Lee (Debbie) Small of Mt. Zion, and Linda Marie (Companion Marvin Fenton) Gorman of Litchfield, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, granddaughter Sherri Long, one great-granddaughter Meaghan Everett, one great-grandson David Long, and siblings Raymond, Everett, Robert and Marie.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 2, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with burial to follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. A visitation will take place before the service starting at 11:00 AM, also at Hough & Sons Funeral Home.
