Shirley Braye

Shirley Jo Ann Braye, age 89, of Nokomis passed away at her home on June 04, 2022 .

Shirley was born on March 31, 1933 in Taylorville, the daughter of Harold and Emma Gleason Thompson.

She married Dallas Braye July 7, 1951 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Nokomis

She assisted her husband with farming their family farm and also had worked at Smitty's Jewelry Store in Taylorville and at the bakery in Nokomis

SHe was a member of Mt. Zion Church near Nokomis.

Shirley is survived by Spouse Dallas Braye; Children Steven (Beth) Braye of Huntsville, AL and Pam (David) Weitekamp of Nokomis; 6 grandchildren Nathan (Jennifer) Braye, Mathew (Tracey) Braye, Alexander Braye, Todd Weitekamp, Amy (Travis) Hough, Krista (Drew) Early and 12 Great Grandchildren. she is also survived by a brother, Michael (Gloria) Thompson, 2 sisters; Nancy Walstad of Provo, UT and Jackie (Richard) Jenkins of Chicago.

Mrs. Braye was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters; Beverly Fisher and Carlyn Wanack,

A funeral service will be held at a later date with burial to be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Nokomis.

Memorials may be made to the Nokomis Food Pantry or the Nokomis Fire Dept.
