Mrs. Velma Rose Wise, 95, of Farmersville passed away on February 09, 2022 at Harrison Bay Senior Living in Mound, MN. Velma was born on May 18, 1926 in Farmersville, IL to parents Dr. H. M. and Alpha Lloyd Snyder. She married Mr. Jack Theo Wise I in Jacksonville on Aug. 27, 1950.
Velma was a Graduate of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. While performing her studies in Jacksonville she met her husband, Jack, and for the next 30 years, it is where she and Jack resided and raised their two children; Ted and Mary Todd.
Velma was an Avid Equine Riding Instructor having taught many young riders which prepared them to compete all over, she along with others were key in forming the Youth Charity Horse Show in the 1970’s. For many years, Velma was the Administrator at the Jacksonville Development Center where she retired in the early 1990s. Being the vibrant and energetic woman that she was, she obtained her teaching certificate and substitute taught in classrooms ranging from the kindergarten to seniors in high school for approximately 20 years until she was 90 years old.
Also, in retirement, Velma began to breed Jack Russel Terriers after acquiring one as a gift for her Grandson JT. She soon became the caregiver for the dog, Pippen, and eventually fell in love with Jack Russels and proceeded to build two kennels at her home.
