Vesta (Lockerby) Ellis

Vesta (Lockerby) Ellis, 86, of Hillsboro passed away Sept. 13, 2022, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1936, in Carbondale, IL to Thomas and Estaleda Lockerby.

She worked at the Hillsboro School Cafeteria and the Hillsboro Public Library. She was a 4-H leader, loved flowers, to read, sew, and crochet.

She married Charles “Chuck” Ellis on Dec. 26, 1959, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2012.

She is survived by her children Lisa (Donald) Mulch of Normal, Ronda (Kevin) Codemo of Normal, Vickie (Dennis) DeWerff of Normal, Scott (Janelle) Ellis of Springfield, David Ellis of Hillsboro and Kimberly (Treg) Caruthers of Waverly and grandchildren Ellen Rinehimer, Erin Pioletti, Samantha DeWerff, Jessica DeWerff, Austin Ellis, Christopher Ellis and Alexandria Caruthers and six great grandchildren and one sister Reba Luke of Chelmsford MA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles.

Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Memorial service will be Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Hough & Sons Funeral home in Hillsboro with Rev. Larry Mulch officiating, visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until service time.
