William "Bill" J. Beeler

William “Bill” J. Beeler 90 of Butler passed away July 26, 2020 in Springfield.

He was born to Leon Francis and Greta (Isley) Beeler in Nokomis IL on May 23, 1930, they moved to Butler when he was 6 months old.

He was a 1948 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He worked out of Wood River Labor Local #338 and received his 72 year pin. He loved fishing, gardening and watching sports.

He joined the Marines (Camp Pendleton) and served in the US military during the Korean War from1952 - 1954

He married Nordella Mae Weerts in Centralia on Dec 27, 1956 and she preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2007.

He is survived by one daughter Alice (Jeff) Cunningham of Butler and two sons Sam (Debbie) Beeler of Butler and Ben (Diane) Beeler of Hillsboro, eight Grandchildren Chad (companion Judy Allen) Cunningham, Kimberly Cunningham, Shawn Cunningham, Veronica (Steve) Groom, Vicki (companion Hank Messmore) Spinner, Vanessa Pace, Adam (Meagan) Beeler and Brooke (Nathan) Lynch and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Heye and Emma (Seifert) Weerts, one son Tim Beeler in 1977, one great granddaughter Brianna Groom in 2004, one brother Leon Beeler and one sister Mary Rita McInchak.

Memorials can be directed to Asbury Cemetery and Butler Union church.

Funeral service will be Thursday July 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Randy Sands Officiating; Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.
