Gerald Lawrence Wedekind age 85, of Raymond, passed away at Heritage Manor in Litchfield on Sep. 19, 2017.

Gerald was born in Cape Girardeau, MO on Sep. 16, 1932 the son of the late Lawrence and Alta Eggimann Wedekind.

He married Norma Thorp in Clinton, IL on Sep. 9, 1951 and she survives.

He was a Farmer of Grain and Livestock; He had also been the extension advisor for Jersey and Green County. He served on the Farm Credit Board and was a member of; Montgomery Co. Farm Bureau, Pork Producers and Livestock Producers. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Farmers Award.

Beside his wife he is survived by his children; Rodney (Gay Davidson) Wedekind of Springfield, Il Wayne (Rebecca) Wedekind of Butler, Jerry (Kassie Elliott) Wedekind of Hotchkiss, CO, Wesley Wedekind, of West Frankfort, Il,

Jon Wedekind of Hotchkiss, CO, Karen (Jeff Higbie) Wedekind of St. Peters, MO, Larry Wedekind of Raymond, IL. 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren also survive him. Also one brother James (Sandee) Wedekind of Groveland, IL survives. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Andrew Wedekind and a brother Robert Wedekind

Funeral services will be held at A Community of Faith Church in Raymond, at 11:00 am on Sat. 23, 2017.

Visitation will be on Friday Sep. 22, from 4-7 at the church

Memorials may be left to the Alzheimer’s A Community of Faith Church, or the Red Cross Flood Relief
