Marvin B “Butch” Elam Jr. 61, of New Berlin, passed away April 17th 2017 at his residence.
He was born July 4, 1955 in Hillsboro to Marvin B. Elam Sr. and Phyllis A. (Polston) Whalen. He is survived by his father and step mother Alice Elam and step father Jim Whalen.
He was a welder at Fiat in Springfield, worked at Horstmann Construction and was a school bus driver. He loved his family, children and his dogs.
He married Jenny Howard on March 30, 1974.
He is survived by his father, step mother, step father, wife and one daughter Ramona Elam and companion Tim Charles of Springfield and one son Matthew Elam companion Mayjan Davis of New Berlin, one grandchild Kayson Elam, siblings Frank (Carol) Elam of Hillsboro, Lola (Joe) Havins of Baytown TX, Pam (Kelly) Mackey of Hillsboro and Nancy Bickel of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his mother one sister Tjody Thieret and one brother Ed Elam.

A celebration of life will be Saturday April 22, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro; visitation will begin at 11:00 on Saturday.
Burial will be in Irving Cemetery.
The family urges everyone to wear comfortable clothing.
